The knowledge of the Little People of the Cherokee has been handed down by word of mouth from countless generations of the past. Even now in our modern times, there still are stories being told of the Little People. The entire Cherokee Nation, including Eastern Cherokees and Western Cherokees, call the Little People in their language, Yunwi Tsunsdi. The purpose in the life of the Little People is to be helpful to all people, especially children. They love children and are very protective of them. They have what is called in the English language, responsibilities, given to them by the Great Creator. They are sent out to all tribes of people to help in times of need. The Irish in Ireland have their Leprechauns, and we Cherokee have our Little People. This ancient oral history of the Cherokees is presented in hopes of preservation and influence for the younger generations, who are gradually distanced from the cultural aspects of the past that so define them. Recapture this Cherokee oral tradition in The Adventures of Turtle Boy and Beaver Girl.

Tommy Jo Burns knew she was destined for greatness. Raised on an Oklahoma ranch where her father taught her to rope and ride, at fourteen she so impressed President Teddy Roosevelt that he dubbed her America's first cowgirl. Filled with dreams of joining a Wild West show, she left her parents to create her own family of friends on the road with Colonel Zack Miller's 101 Ranch Show. It was a new and exciting life, so she took a new name: Cherokee Rose. Cherokee Rose's adventures brought many different men into her life. She could rope with the best of them, and she tangled with a few: the awkward ranch hand, Bill Rogers, who emerged on the show circuit as famed entertainer Will Rogers; a handsome husband who resented her fame; a wealthy gambler who broke her heart. Filled with the excitement of the unconventional, Cherokee Rose captures the essence of women cowgirls and nineteenth-century Wild West shows. Cherokee Rose was inspired by the life of America’s real first cowgirl, Lucille Mulhall, and named after the flower that grows wild on the prairies of the Southwest.

Iris became a member of the Cherokee Nation in 1995, which intensified her desire to learn more about her Native American heritage. "Finding the Treasures Left Along the Trail" has been exciting, and learning of the numerous important individuals that contributed so much to early American history has been incredible! "Finding the Treasures Left Along the Trail - My Cherokee Heritage" presents a historical account of significant contributions made by a family with roots in Europe and in the Cherokee Nation here in America. The book discloses information seldom taught in American history classes in our public schools, and sheds a very different view of the Native American society and its major influence on settlement and development of the United States of America. Even our egalitarian democracy came from the Native American (Iroquois) form of government. You will read stories of family members educated as attorneys, a member raised to the rank of General in the Civil War, and numerous individuals elected to lead the Nation as Principle Chiefs. The Carpenters from Devonshire, England, first arrived on the North American Continent in 1627, and the incredible journey begins!

Champions Of The Cherokees written by William G. McLoughlin and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-14 with History categories.

Champions of the Cherokees is the story of two extraordinary Northern Baptist missionaries, father and son, who lived with the Cherokee Indians from 1821 to 1876. Told largely in the words of these outspoken and compassionate men, this is also a narrative of the Cherokees' sufferings at the hands of the United States government and white frontier dwellers. In addition, it is an analysis of the complexity of interracial relations in the United States, for the Cherokees adopted the white man's custom of black chattel slavery. This fascinating biography reveals the unusual extent to which Evan and John B. Jones challenged prevailing federal Indian policies: unlike most other missionaries, they supported the Indians' right to retain their own identity and national autonomy. William McLoughlin vividly describes the "trail of tears" over which the Cherokees and Evan Jones traveled eight hundred miles through the dead of winter--from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina to a new home in Oklahoma. He examines the difficulties that Jones encountered when, alone among all the missionaries, he expelled Cherokee slaveholders from his mission churches. This book depicts the Joneses' experiences during the Civil War, including their chaplaincy of two Cherokee regiments who fought with the Northern side. Finally, McLoughlin tells how these "champions of the Cherokees" were adopted into the Cherokee nation and helped them fight detribalization. Originally published in 1990. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. One Adventure After Another written by John and Edna Lewis and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This book is not about heroes like military pilots who risk their lives protecting our country, or commercial pilots who wing their way across the world transporting us from one place to the other or general pilots who daily perform tasks that can only be done from the air. We owe all of these pilots a great respect and gratitude for the job that they do. Most of the books written are about them. This book is about the private pilot who is the average man or woman who does not intend to risk their lives flying an airplane. This book is about those people who simply want to take to the air for the joy of being airborne and for the intellectual challenge of keeping up with the birds. If I thought for a moment that flying was not safe, I would not step into an airplane. For years I felt that flying was for the foolhardy until by chance I discovered that flying is safer than driving a car if you learn how to fly and follow the rules. This book attempts to describe the transition from becoming a land person to becoming an air person and the pleasures experienced on the way. -John O. Lewis My first adventure with John as an airplane pilot gave me the surprise of my life. After vehemently refusing to go flying with him, I agreed once and for all to join him in the cockpit for a brief tour around Chicago. Once airborne my imagined fears were replaced by sheer joy of seeing the sights and realizing the wonders both above and below. This initial flight was the beginning of adventures of our lifetime. Never again was any coaxing on his part needed for me to join him on flights. -Edna M. Lewis
