Have you ever thought about the things you went through dealing with men? Even if you were not in a serious relationship with them, have you ever just sat and wondered, what was all that about? And it don't stop there. All the thinking I did lead me to write a book sharing it all. The good, the bad, and the ones I wanted to kill. Some of the things they did to me earned me a license to kill. All the pain and tears and pain, and good times. Even the secrets I never told anyone before. Getting older means that I have to be honest with myself and accept what I have went through. I have been verbally and physically abused by men I loved. I have been lied to and ignored by men I believed would protect me. I have been wronged by the ones I shared a bed with. I know what it's like to have your feelings thrown out a 50 story window and watch it splatter in your face. I have been called mean so many times I cannot remember what the count was. One of the reasons why is because of being treated wrong, bothered, stolen from, and caged like a wild animal. I just don't have the patience for such things anymore. I have learned to be straight forward and express my feelings at will. Men don't have a problem with expressing how they feel. So why should I? If you like reading about real life and real people, this is for you. I share some things that might have been better left in my head. But what do I have to hide? Everyone has gone through some things in their lifetime. I just have the guts to tell it!

Instant New York Times Bestseller An urgent primer on race and racism, from Emmanuel Acho, an American Football Legend and host of the viral hit video series Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man. 'I really love this' – Jada Pinkett Smith 'What Emmanuel Acho has to say is important' – Matthew McConaughey ‘An absolute must-read . . . Emmanuel Acho dives into important subjects like cultural appropriation and white privilege, urging you to find a way to join in the fight against racism’ – Cosmopolitan In Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, Emmanuel Acho takes on all the questions, large and small, insensitive and taboo, many white people are afraid to ask – yet which everyone needs the answers to, now more than ever. With the same open-hearted generosity that has made his video series of the same name a phenomenon, Acho explains the vital core of such fraught concepts as white privilege, cultural appropriation and ‘reverse racism’. In his own words, he provides a space of compassion and understanding in a discussion that can lack both. He asks only for the reader’s curiosity – but along the way, he will galvanize all of us to join the anti-racist fight.

On Black Men written by David Marriott and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with History categories.

Mutilated, dying or dead, black men play a role in the psychic life of culture. From national dreams to media fantasies, from sensual intimacy to outpourings of murderous violence, there is a persistent imagining of what black men must be, a demand that black men perform a script, become interchangeable with the uncanny, deeply unsettling, projections of culture. This powerful and compelling study explores the legacy of that role, particularly its violent effect on how black men have learned to see themselves and one another. David Marriott draws upon a range of examples, from lynching photographs to recent Hollywood films, as well as the ideas of key thinkers including Frantz Fanon, Richard Wright, James Baldwin and John Edgar Wideman, to reveal a vicious pantomime of unvarying reification and compulsive fascination, of whites taking a look at themselves through images of black desolation, and of blacks intimately dispossessed by that self-same looking. On Black Menis a bold and original exploration of what it means to be black and male in contemporary Europe and America.

Black Men On Race Gender And Sexuality written by Devon Carbado and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-07 with Law categories.

A groundbreaking anthology of essays providing commentary on gender and sexuality inclusion in the antiracist movement In late 1995, the Million Man March drew hundreds of thousands of black men to Washington, DC, and seemed even to skeptics a powerful sign not only of black male solidarity, but also of black racial solidarity. Yet while generating a sense of community and common purpose, the Million Man March, with its deliberate exclusion of women and implicit rejection of black gay men, also highlighted one of the central faultlines in African American politics: the role of gender and sexuality in antiracist agenda. In this groundbreaking anthology, a companion to the highly successful Critical Race Feminism, Devon Carbado changes the terms of the debate over racism, gender, and sexuality in black America. The essays cover such topics as the legal construction of black male identity, domestic abuse in the black community, the enduring power of black machismo, the politics of black male/white female relationships, racial essentialism, the role of black men in black women's quest for racial equality, and the heterosexist nature of black political engagement. "Featuring work by Cornel West, Huey Newton, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr., Houston Baker, Marlon T. Riggs, Dwight McBride, Michael Awkward, Ishmael Reed, Derrick Bell, and many others, Devon Carbado's anthology stakes out new territory in the American racial landscape."—Critical America, A series edited by Richard Delgado and Jean Stephancic
