This book is aimed at 5-7 years old children who learn Greek as a second language and whose both or one parent is a Greek speaker. Through my experience and in-depth observation on this group of students at Greek schools in Greece and in San Francisco, I identified and documented the unique educational needs of this specific group of students. Based on this observation arose the need for a teaching tool - handbook for children who learn the Greek language as a second or a foreign language. The main concern and goal for this book was it to be enjoyable for every student and easy-to-use, while at the same time ensuring that the student works effectively, independently, confidently and structured, regarding the learning objectives set. This book aspires to support educators who are teaching Greek to Greek-as-a-second or foreign language students. My goal is through this textbook to ensure a pleasant and friendly experience to the student, allowing for effective, independent, and structured, learning. Through this book, the student will: be introduced to the Greek Alphabet. recognize the Sound - Letter correspondences [relationships between sounds (or phonemes) and the letters (or graphemes)]. learn the shape and morphology of each letter as well as how it is written. learn basic vocabulary associated with each letter. practice visual and auditory recognition of the letters. write correctly every letter of the Greek Alphabet. spell and by finishing the book also read small words. enrich the vocabulary and broaden his/her imagination, with the stories at the end of every letter - unit. The main focus of this handbook is the Greek Alphabet, presented in various forms of activities that promote the experiential learning method and language development. Among other activities in the book, students are asked to phonetically identify the letters of the Alphabet and match them to visual images as well as to the respective letter. This way students practice and build vocabulary and spelling skills. Additionally, by using the included interactive software, students are given the opportunity to interact independently and actively with the alphabet. In addition, students can color in pictures at the book related to each letter of the alphabet. Approaching learning from a variety of learning styles students increase their ability to learn and improve their learning strategies and skills.

The Development Of Greek And The New Testament written by Chrys C. Caragounis and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Religion categories.

"The introduction of the Erasmian pronunciation in 1528 had two dire consequences: Greek was divided into ancient and modern - a division that led to the neglect of the later periods of the language, and the pronunciation applied made impossible the detection of many communicatory aspects and obscured many text-critical problems. The author argues for the unity of the Greek language from Mycenaean times to the present. The New Testament appears during the time of transition (335 B.C. - A.D. 565) from ancient to Modern Greek. Morphological and syntactical analysis shows that at many important points the New Testament can be elucidated by later Greek, up to Neohellenic. Contents include: Introduction, The unity and evolution of the Greek language, The relevance of later Greek for the Exegesis of the New Testament, The transition from Attic to Neohellenic in Morphology and the New Testament, Syntactical Developments, The significance of the developments for the exegesis of the New Testament, The historical Greek pronunciation and the dichotomy of the language, The acoustic dimension in communication, The impact of the historical Greek pronunciation on the transmission of the New Testament text, Summary and Conclusions."

The Comma Queen returns with a buoyant book about language, love, and the wine-dark sea. In her New York Times bestseller Between You & Me, Mary Norris delighted readers with her irreverent tales of pencils and punctuation in The New Yorker’s celebrated copy department. In Greek to Me, she delivers another wise and funny paean to the art of self-expression, this time filtered through her greatest passion: all things Greek. Greek to Me is a charming account of Norris’s lifelong love affair with words and her solo adventures in the land of olive trees and ouzo. Along the way, Norris explains how the alphabet originated in Greece, makes the case for Athena as a feminist icon, goes searching for the fabled Baths of Aphrodite, and reveals the surprising ways Greek helped form English. Filled with Norris’s memorable encounters with Greek words, Greek gods, Greek wine—and more than a few Greek men—Greek to Me is the Comma Queen’s fresh take on Greece and the exotic yet strangely familiar language that so deeply influences our own.

Dear Parents, The Greek alphabet has been in place since the late ninth or early eighth century BC. It is derived from the earlier Phoenician alphabet and was the first alphabetic script in history to have distinct letters for vowels as well as consonants. In Archaic and early Classical times, the Greek alphabet existed in many local variants, but, by the end of the fourth century BC, the Euclidean alphabet, with twenty-four letters, ordered from alpha to omega, had become standard. The Greek alphabet serves as a source of technical symbols and labels in many domains of mathematics, science and other fields. The language is a basic characteristic which constitutes one's own representation of who you are. Children and Parents may feel that using English as a common language, it won't matter whether they learn Greek or not.
