I have lived in Glastonbury, CT for almost 30 years. I am still awed by its natural and man made beauty, capturing the essence of the town in thousands of pictures. I have also written many poems and decided to capture them in my third poetry book. It is not "about Glastonbury" yet it is all about Glastonbury. I fell in love with this town when I was a child visiting my aunt and uncle in a neighboring town. They shopped and visited Glastonbury daily and so did my brother and I when we visited and stayed with them. I kept my bird feeders filled until 2018, and had many critters and birds come to visit, sit around, and chat.

Hold Your Own, Kae Tempest's first full-length collection for Picador is an ambitious, multi-voiced work based around the mythical figure of Tiresias. This four-part work follows him through his transformations from child, man and woman to blind prophet; through this structure, Tempest holds up a mirror to contemporary life in a direct and provocative way rarely associated with poetry. A vastly popular and accomplished performance poet, Tempest commands a huge and dedicated following on the performance and rap circuit. Brand New Ancients, also available from Picador, won the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry and has played to packed concert halls on both sides of the Atlantic.

Making Nothing Happen written by Gavin D'Costa and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-24 with Poetry categories.

Making Nothing Happen is a conversation between five poet-theologians who are broadly within the Christian tradition - Nicola Slee, Ruth Shelton, Mark Pryce, Eleanor Nesbitt and Gavin D'Costa. Together they form The Diviners - a group which has been meeting together for a number of years for poetry, and theological and literary reflection. Each poet offers an illuminating reflection on how they understand the relation between poetry and faith, rooting their reflections in their own writing, and illustrating discussion with a selection of their own poems. The poets open up issues for deeper exploration and reflection, including: the nature of creativity and the distinction between divine and human creation; the creative process as exploration, epiphany and revelation; the forging of identity through writing; ways in which the arts reflect, challenge and dialogue with faith, and faith can inform and challenge the arts; power and voice in poetry and faith; and ways in which race, gender and culture interact with and shape poetic and theological discourse. This book will be of interest to poets and theologians, to all who read poetry and are interested in the connections between literature and faith, to those seeking inspiration for preaching, liturgy and pastoral care, and to those committed to the practice and nurturing of a contemplative attitude to life in which profound attention and respect are offered to words and to the creative Word at work.

Once aworking-class heartland or 'bogan' town, Newcastle is now acclaimed as one ofthe top 5 hipster cities in the world. In the sequence of sonnets which composeher homage to Newcastle, Glastonbury celebrates the city's oddities andcontradictions, remixing the material effects of gentrification with the regionalvernacular and punk drama of locally based social media - blogs, Tumblr,Instagram, Facebook and Google Maps. An antipodean, regional, queering of TedBerrigan's New York-based Sonnets, Glastonbury'spoems make music from what's around, embracing both DIY chutzpah and the swipes, likes, and filtered screens of internet culture. This is Newcastle in cosplay, part eggs benedict, part pebblecrete, where a coal boat named 'Fiction' isalways approaching the shore.

Even lovers of Dylan Thomas’s poems are often puzzled by his habits of language, which sometimes take the form of unusual diction and unique perceptions. This study, on the hundredth anniversary of his birth, is a must-read for both Thomas’s fans and newcomers interested in an introduction to his works and the unique sensibility that created them. Chapters are devoted to his poetic perspectives, ranging from the microscopic to the cosmic; his unusual perceptions of the world, which some critics have described as those of an almost altered reality; his diction, or working vocabulary; his penchant for refurbishing clichés; his hilarious sense of humor and linguistic playfulness; his development as a poet; and his concern for sound, often resulting in a lofty, at times Biblical, though secular, tone. In summary, the study fully explores the heart and mind behind the poems, and shows why his work will always remain in the top rank of English poetry.
