Taking Leave Of Your Home written by Mark G. Boyer and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-08-04 with Religion categories.

We are pilgrims on a journey; that means we will leave our home and move to another one at least once during our lifetime. This book is a resource for taking leave of a home, focusing primarily on the psychological and spiritual tasks of moving. Chapter 1 offers suggestions on how to take leave of one's home slowly. Chapter 2 presents occasions when one must quickly take leave of a home because of poor health, a health emergency, age, the death of a spouse, finances, a job transfer, etc. Because nature can precipitate a move, chapter 3 offers suggestions for taking leave of a home when one has been faced with such a disaster as a tornado, a flood, an earthquake, a fire, etc. Chapter 4 presents a short prayer service to be held on moving day. For every one of the entries a few verses of a Scripture text that is appropriate for the topic under consideration are given. A reflection follows. The reflection is followed by an activity, which involves the members of a family in some way. A prayer concludes the exercise.

The Artist At Home written by Imogen Racz and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-01-11 with Social Science categories.

Artists have worked from home for many reasons, including care duties, financial or political constraints, or availability and proximity to others. From the 'home studios' of Charles and Ray Eames, to the different photographic representations of Robert Rauschenberg's studio, this book explores the home as a distinct site of artistic practice, and the traditions and developments of the home studio as concept and space throughout the 20th and into the 21st century. Using examples from across Europe and the Anglophone world between the mid-20th century and the present, each chapter considers the different circumstances for working at home, the impact on the creative lives of the artists, their identities as artists and on the work itself, and how, sometimes, these were projected and promoted through photographs and the media. Key themes include the gendered and performative aspects of women practising 'at home', collaborative studio communities of the 1970s – 90s including the appropriation of abandoned spaces in East London, and the effects of Covid on artistic practices and family life within the spaces of 'home'. The book comprises full-length chapters by artists, architects, art and design historians, each of whom bring different perspectives to the issues, interwoven with short interviews with artists to enrich and broaden the debates. At a time when individual relationships to home environments have been radically altered, The Artist at Home considers why some artists in previous decades either needed to or chose to work from home, producing work of vitality and integrity. Tracing this long tradition into the present, the book will provide a deeper understanding of how the home studio has affected the practices and identity of artists working in different countries, and in different circumstances, from the mid-20th century to the present.

Banal Nationalism written by Michael Billig and has been published by SAGE this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-08-15 with Social Science categories.

Michael Billig presents a major challenge to orthodox conceptions of nationalism in this elegantly written book. While traditional theorizing has tended to the focus on extreme expressions of nationalism, the author turns his attention to the everyday, less visible forms which are neither exotic or remote, he describes as `banal nationalism′. The author asks why people do not forget their national identity. He suggests that in daily life nationalism is constantly flagged in the media through routine symbols and habits of language. Banal Nationalism is critical of orthodox theories in sociology, politics and social psychology for ignoring this core feature of national identity. Michael Billig argues forcefully that with nationalism continuing to be a major ideological force in the contemporary world, it is all the more important to recognize those signs of nationalism which are so familiar that they are easily overlooked.

A Priest In The Home written by James Michael Doyle and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-01-03 with Religion categories.

This book is designed for the instruction and encouragement of men to be the leaders in their homes in both spiritual and physical matters. If men will fulfill their responsibilities as spiritual leaders in their homes, the world and the church would see an immediate revival of Gods Spirit. This book will show them why they should and how to begin. Chapter 1 gives a brief history of the Old Testament priesthood and why God originally established it. Uniquely sets the stage for our New Testament priestly duties. Chapter 2 explains the rituals followed in ordaining and consecrating the priests under the Old Covenant, and relates these to our New Covenant consecration. Chapter 3 explains what the daily sacrifice was and why it had to be performed, and relates it to our daily sacrifice today of prayer, both morning and evening. Chapter 4 discusses Joshuas declaration of his entire households dedication in service to the Lord, and explains the importance of our making that same declaration today. Chapter 5 explains the five main offerings instituted by God - sin offering, trespass offering, burnt offering, grain offering and fellowship offering - and translates those into our New Testament spiritual sacrifices today. Chapter 6 describes how God is more pleased with our obedience than the sacrifices, which were set up to atone for our disobedience in the first place. Chapter 7 shows what kind of unselfish, unconditional love God expects husbands to have for their wives with a unique tie-in to Scripture. Chapter 8 encourages men to exercise godly dominion over every circumstance in their lives by living by faith. Chapter 9 describes the spiritual warfare Satan wages against every Christian and how men as priests in their homes can protect themselves and their families. Chapter 10 focuses on one particular evil spirit which is the greatest threat to the priesthood in the home and the church, and shows how to identify it and pull down its stronghold. Chapter 11 explains the spiritual significance, and the power released, by standing firm in your faith in the face of every obstacle to your spiritual walk. It leaves men with the encouragement to do everything they have learned in this book and then just stand on Gods promises that He will order the steps of a righteous man.
