What is hell? That depends on your perspective. For first-time author Tony Sorendo, Hell was a physically and emotionally painful journey with chronic pain wrought with heartache, disappointment, and despair as he made his way toward an awakening of positivity and a life dedicated to helping others. In a page-turner that is admittedly "his story," Sorendo allows readers to truly live in, relate to, and feel a world in which an estimated 80 million Americans or more are trapped today: the world of chronic pain. With unbridled candor and honesty, Sorendo intimately shares the depths of his despair as he chronicles the seemingly never ending trials and tribulations that so many individuals in chronic pain-and the people who love them-will recognize and sympathize with. Pain. Injuries. Insurance. Lawyers. Doubts. Anger. Frustration. Loneliness. Isolation. Depression. An inspirational must-read for anyone awake in this world, My Journey to Hell and Back with Chronic Pain isn't just one man's story or a story about chronic pain. And it's not a how-to or a self-help book, either. Rather, as Sorendo reveals his personal, life-changing experience, his story evolves into a series of modern-day miracles and inspiring examples of determination, positivity, and generosity of spirit that will assure readers that they're not alone. My Journey to Hell and Back with Chronic Pain is wonderfully written in a down-to-earth style, and Sorendo is an adept and engaging storyteller. Vividly bringing his memories to life, his experiences become all the more familiar to his readers as he bares his soul openly, honestly, and with raw emotion. If Sorendo can make it to hell and back with chronic pain-and find renewed purpose, joy, positivity, and hope-so can others, whether in chronic pain or not.

Welcome To a World of Unbridled Psychological Horror KING OF PAIN - The Descent is Book 1 of the series, 'A Journey to Hell & Back Through the Mind's Eye.' It is the haunting story of a nameless, faceless character caught in the grip of nihilism and horrific self-destruction. You are invited into the character's twisted and tormented mind, where you'll experience evil, madness and atrocities unspeakable. Always in the company of his Russian Blue cat 'Uncle Joey,' he travels through the dregs of humanity and finds solace in all that is filthy and deplorable; the junkie ecosystem, a throng of parasitical people feeding off of each other in Building #1, the abode of a certain old man named Ralphy, known by all as The Cockroach Prince. As the maze of characters gets more dangerous and some seek to destroy him, there are players behind the scenes that believe he can overcome, including his eccentric mother Marina, an unknown yet benevolent ghost, Father Corbin, an unconventional priest with unique spiritual abilities and insight, and Slade, the Indian Warrior who tries to introduce him to the purging ceremonies of his people. The character's only human support comes from friends like Jim, a half-white, half-Cherokee freight train of violence and frantic drug consumption; Martin, the chronically-addicted former mob boss and city overlord, and Jonathon, a newly-orphaned youth who admires the main character and has himself given up on life. But time is running out. As the character’s self destruction breeds more intense psychological suffering, the visions turn darker and more sinister; demonic apparitions begin to appear in his Mind's Eye and even in his tangible reality. . He is thus catapulted into the very center of his existence where he comes face to face with the ultimate archenemy.. Encounter angels and demons, experience the end of the world and enter the character's soul, where he comes face-to-face with CEO, his personal and self-devised Satan. Will he make it out of this nightmarish world of insanity? Or will his enemies triumph and drag his soul to hell? Sometimes Reality, Is The Hardest Thing to Face From the Author: KING OF PAIN: What would it be like to travel into a world of death, insanity, depravity and violence INSIDE the human soul? Plagued by endless painful emotions, confusion, hatred and rage, a mind can, in essence, create an inner world of death more terrifying and vile than any movie or news report. That internal film is always playing; unfettered by human laws or reasons to restrain, this 'soul footage' can roll horrific scenes of unrestrained mass murder and human debasement. Who is the wiser if he pillages and murders inside of his own mind? Who can imprison him for perpetrating these despicable yet abstract deeds? What of this inner world... this inner hell where everything and anything can come to pass? Is it all in the imagination, or are there (real) malevolent forces behind the curtain? And so I was intrigued by "The Mind's Eye," the lens that goes above and beyond three-dimensional reality; a razor-sharp, ocular blade that severs all that is illusory. But what happens when, upon closer scrutiny, we discover that illusion is, perhaps, more real than what the naked eye can see. Yet the horrors that appear before the Mind's Eye are a mere reflection of the destructive choices that the character makes. So what if we took this character and placed him in a hopeless path of self - destruction, a path so irrevocable and vile that it actually fueled the mental machinations? And this inner hell that he creates is the only outlet that he has for the suffering and psychological pain that assaults him day and night, a direct result of the insanely-destructive choices that he makes, knowing that his demise looms, but pressing on nonetheless, and with glee and defiance. What can he do to find relief but to reach out and soothe the misery with liquids, powders, pebbles and any other compounds he can find? But that is not enough; the more he partakes, the more he craves, and the more he craves, the more his life falls apart, and the more he loses control, the more he is consumed with hate and rage. As his emotions collapse and humanity disappears, the character is assaulted by horrifying visions, dreams and spiritual apparitions. And this blood-paved road leads to the very place that he always shunned; yes, this road leads to the center of himself. There, for the first time, he finds himself standing face-to-face with his loving enemy and indefatigable tormentor. And so, towards the end of this volume, our nameless character says: "I crown myself KING OF PAIN, walking down my self-made Calvary with the world's crosses on my back, on the pathway to becoming my own self-righteous martyr." This statement was somewhat of a shock to me when it came because it showed that, somewhere inside his corrupted mind, there is an awareness that shows him flashes of truth and clarity. But will that be enough to uproot and destroy an evil so deeply rooted? While a betting man would put his money on violent death and eternal perdition for our character, the force of free-will, coupled with love rediscovered, could very well equal or even surpass the power of E=Mc2, could it not? Together, we shall discover his fate.

“A story of triumph and courage . . . Nicole Hemmenway demonstrates hope, guts and faith for any chronic pain sufferer or caregiver” (Betsy Turner Nunley, author of Preemie to Woman in Sixty Short Years). At seventeen, Nicole Hemmenway believed her life was just beginning. She was a senior in high school looking forward to college and living on her own. However, all her dreams vanished the moment she became injured. Diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), she soon learned that mainstream medicine viewed her pain and symptoms as being untreatable and incurable. She was living a nightmare. With no use of her right hand and minimal use of her arm, she depended on massive amounts of narcotics to survive each day. Yet even that could not control her agony. The crippling pain was so paralyzing that she faced periods where she was bedridden or wheelchair bound. All she had to hold on to was hope. Hope that her miracle would someday arrive . . . No, It Is Not in My Head is a courageous memoir that presents answers and allows others to believe in the unimaginable. “A must-read for anyone suffering from chronic pain or anyone who knows someone battling it . . . No, It Is Not in My Head is not a cure for pain, but more a cure for hopelessness. . . . Beautifully written, incredibly inspirational and highly recommended!” —Robin Cain, author of The Secret Miss Rabbit Kept “A riveting and uplifting tale, not to be missed.” —Midwest Book Review

When she joined a spiritual organization in an attempt to regain control of her life, Karen Jonson had no clue that she would one day become a Hindu nun living in the US ashram of two men she called her gurus. She certainly never guessed that both of them would turn out to be conmen and that she would expose their dark secrets to the world. But that is exactly what happened. Her mission led her in several directions - including approaching an investigative reporter and an FBI agent, organizing a group of ex-devotees to support the gurus' victims, sharing insider information with prosecuting attorneys, and using social media to expose the organization.Sex, Lies and Two Hindu Gurus chronicles a world that is spoken of only in hushed whispers. It exposes the twisted goings-on inside the dubious spiritual cult she was part of and gives readers a rare insight into a dangerous con game. The perversions the gurus indulged in, how they preyed upon the vulnerabilities of their followers, swindled them and ruined their lives, and why no one has stopped the fake gurus from sexually violating underage girls - every detail comes under scrutiny. It is a thriller comparable to any piece of fiction. It is also a crime drama, and a cautionary tale for people seeking to connect with the divine.

Lost And Broken written by Congressman Adam Smith and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-05-30 with Self-Help categories.

Adam Smith, 26-year member of Congress and Chair of the House Armed Services Committee for the last four years, offers a candid memoir about his years-long struggle with anxiety and chronic pain, and the winding path to find the right diagnosis and treatment. “Early one morning in April of 2016 I woke up and seriously contemplated the possibility that I would never be able to generate the strength, focus, and courage to get out of bed. The combination of crippling anxiety, chronic pain, muscle atrophy, and the fascinating mix of pharmaceuticals coursing through my body had, I feared, finally broken me. My life terrified me. I had been fighting some combination of these battles for just over three years at this point, and I didn’t think I could do it for one more day.” Representative Adam Smith was successful by all measures, with a long, distinguished career in Congress and a loving marriage with children. Yet seemingly out of nowhere, his body and mind broke down to the point where every day was a relentless struggle to just keep moving. It’s a struggle millions of Americans know all too well. Would he be able to meet his responsibilities as a husband and father? Could he still maintain his breakneck professional schedule and continue to do his job well? He soon realized he couldn’t will himself well—he needed help. Thus began a desperate search for the right diagnosis and treatment for his mental and physical pain that lasted over six years and involved more than a hundred different health care providers. With unflinching honesty, Smith reveals how he got to this lowest point in life, and how he slowly, painfully, and unevenly found his way back to having a calmer mind and being free of chronic pain and medication. Smith discovered the severe limitations of our nation’s health care system, and brought him face to face with the cost of the stigma our country has against admitting to and dealing with mental health issues. He learned that life isn’t about finding that quick fix or clear-cut mental and physical program to stop worrying and struggling. It’s about learning who you are, understanding your body and mind well enough to face those struggles that we will all inevitably face, and then being able to enjoy your life even when those struggles come.

"Tuesday morning, I spent an hour with a neurologist trying to figure out why I kept tripping over my feet. He pushed and pulled on my legs, whacked me with a reflex hammer and shone a light so deep into my eyes I thought it might illuminate the wall behind my head. That afternoon, I drove home and ordered a new backpacking tent." Pain is an unforgiving equalizer--forget social status, race or gender. For people suffering from chronic pain, "real life" can get lost among endless appointments, diagnoses, prescriptions and medical bills. Living a life beyond mere survival becomes as big a battle as fighting the pain itself. Drawing on her experiences as both a patient and a health-care professional, the author candidly describes her sudden transition from a healthy, active lifestyle to years of learning to live with debilitating pain.
