PREFACEMy Sister Tiaunna was created by renowned American author, Don S. McClure. The story centers around the lives of three sisters and one courageous daughter who is willing to fight for the very life of each. The sisters are identical triplets, which makes this tale of intrigue so unusual because this situation occurs only once in every 500,000 births. Those same odds makes this tale of adventure more than the human imagination can accept as fiction, making each page feel real. The event opens when the middle sister, Tiara, has the misfortune of being misidentified as Trajan, the top espionage operative for the U.S. Tiara is captured in the South Hamgyong Province of North Korea while on an assignment to take photos of one of the most beautiful hotels there, at the request of the wife of the President of North Korea. Trajan, who is the youngest sister in this set of identical triplets, is the leading female agent in the world of clandestine affairs, working for the group known as La Nava, who are considered more dangerous than the CIA, MI6, MI5, or the KGB, and capable of getting the results the United States needs in the war against terrorism. Her code name is Malaiensis, which means Black Eagle. The events in the lives of these three sisters, through the eyes of a daughter, will have you wondering about your life, and how far into the world of danger you are willing to venture for a family member of your own. McClure left nothing out of this story when it came to excitement. My Sister Tiaunna will leave you mesmerized up to the last page.

The winners of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting tell the astonishing story of Mary Clarke. At the age of fifty, Clarke left her comfortable life in suburban Los Angeles to follow a spiritual calling to care for the prisoners in one of Mexico's most notorious jails. She actually moved into a cell to live among drug king pins and petty thieves. She has led many of them through profound spiritual transformations in which they turned away from their lives of crime, and has deeply touched the lives of all who have witnessed the depth of her compassion. Donning a nun's habit, she became Mother Antonia, renowned as "the prison angel," and has now organized a new community of sisters-the Servants of the Eleventh Hour—widows and divorced women seeking new meaning in their lives. "We had never heard a story like hers," Jordan and Sullivan write, "a story of such powerful goodness." Born in Beverly Hills, Clarke was raised around the glamour of Hollywood and looked like a star herself, a beautiful blonde reminiscent of Grace Kelly. The choreographer Busby Berkeley spotted her at a restaurant and offered her a job, but Mary's dream was to be a happy wife and mother. She raised seven children, but her two unfulfilling marriages ended in divorce. Then in the late 1960s, in midlife, she began devoting herself to charity work, realizing she had an extraordinary talent for drumming up donations for the sick and poor. On one charity mission across the Mexican border to the drug-trafficking capitol of Tijuana, she visited La Mesa prison and experienced an intense feeling that she had found her true life's work. As she recalls, "I felt like I had come home." Receiving the blessings of the Catholic Church for her mission, on March 19, 1977, at the age of fifty, she moved into a cell in La Mesa, sleeping on a bunk with female prisoners above and below her. Nearly twenty-eight years later she is still living in that cell, and the remarkable power of her spiritual counseling to the prisoners has become legendary. The story of both one woman's profound journey of discovery and growth and of the deep spiritual awakenings she has called forth in so many lost souls, The Prison Angel is an astonishing testament to the powers of personal transformation.

Crossing Digital Fronteras is about liberatory possibilities and digital technologies in the classroom. The book centers critical Latinx Digital Humanities to illustrate the ways college faculty and Latinx students harness digital tools to engage in "messy" yet essential active learning and knowledge production in Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Latinx Studies courses. With increasing Latinx student enrollment and a growing need for the humanities in our complex world, it is essential that HSIs and instructors integrate twenty-first-century tools into their teaching practices to truly "serve" Latinx students and communities. This book definitively inserts Latinx Digital Humanities into broader conversations about best practices at HSIs, on the one hand, and digital humanities and social justice, on the other. Most importantly, it provides practical examples of innovative, rehumanizing digital pedagogies that give students the liberatory learning they deserve.

Years Don T Wait For Them written by Bede Sheppard and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with COVID-19 Pandemic, 2020- categories.

"The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the education of an estimated 90 percent of the world's school-aged children. [This report] is based on over 470 interviews with students, parents, and teachers in 60 countries between April 2020 and April 2021. It documents how Covid-related school closures did not affect all children equally, as governments failed to provide all children with the opportunity, tools, or access needed to keep learning during the pandemic. Students from groups already facing discrimination and exclusion from education even before the pandemic were disproportionately adversely affected. Governments' long-term failures to remedy discrimination and inequalities in their education systems, and often to ensure basic government services, such as affordable, reliable electricity in homes, or facilitate affordable internet access, meant schools entered the pandemic ill-prepared to deliver remote education to all students equally. Children from low-income families were more likely to be excluded from online learning because they did not have reliable electricity or sufficient access to the internet or devices. Historically under-resourced schools particularly struggled to reach their students."--Page 4 of cover.
