DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ? • Why the world came to be filled with discord? • If God really exists, why doesn’t He fix it? • Is there a penalty we must pay for sinful acts? • Is there a way we can escape this dilemma? • Is the Old Testament important today? • Is prayer important in our belief system? • Is faith important in our relationship with God? • What does it mean to worship in Spirit and Truth? • What does “Born Again” really mean? ********************** I acknowledge that I’m not a member of the clergy, nor am I able to claim an educational degree of any high importance (especially in theology). I do however have many years experience fortified by attending church, Bible study, seeking out the council of the Holy Spirit and learned mentors, and doing some serious praying. The result was this book, “My View from the Pew”, which when translated means...a layman's attempt to simplify and bring to an understandable and workable theology that which otherwise might be (in some cases) unnecessarily complicated.

The black Pentecostal church, once the pillar of the community and the standard bearer of the Christian faith was seen as that sanctified, set-aside church, where people came to receive Salvation. The Pentecostal churches comes in every race, creed and color; however, the black Pentecostal church had its own way of worship. By writing this book, highlighting issues and situations occurring in the church today, is not to reprimand, insult, or make fun of the church. The purpose of writing this book is to examine the changing standards and the way we go about conducting services, to see if it is expedient for us to maintain these changes in reaching our ultimate goal winning souls for Christ. Today, it appears that instead of the church being set-apart, it rather be assimilated with the world. Years ago, one could spot a Saint from a mile away. Today you would be hard pressed to pick one out. Even the very thing that distinguished the Pentecostal church from all other churches, its music, has become indistinguishable. Lets look at these issues and discuss if we are going down the right path. Let us pray and seek guidance so that we may preserve the church as Jesus wants it to be, a House of Prayer. Sharon D. If you struggled as a Christian and sometimes wanted to give up, this testimony might help you. We are sheep, and we are meant to be led by the shepherd. Jesus said “Follow me” to the apostles. Before He left, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with them and in them. They were to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This is for us today.

Summary This book is a journey. We will make several stops; pausing, trying to understand as we go along. We will look at the faithless, the people whose faith is different from ours because it is rooted in their history and in their culture. We will also try to understand why some of our religious leaders allow their personal feelings as well as their personal allegiances influence their teachings. At the end of our journey we will be reminded that both hate and love are very powerful engines. Alice and I picked love, personified in Jesus Christ.

The Shift written by O. K. Johnson and has been published by Publish Green this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-07-26 with Religion categories.

In the Shift, author O.K. "Speedy" Johnson describes his nearly 60 year journey of faith that encompasses practicing a religion before shifting to embracing a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The author describes his struggles juxtapositioning what he was taught in parochial school versus what the Bible teaches. The story talks of simple faith and trust and believing what God's written word and applied through his own life experiences. Johnson also refers to the early church creeds, developing a Biblical fear of the Lord, the nature of salvation and the church and how any person can come into a relationship with Jesus Christ and what our identity is in Christ. The author takes both Catholic and Protestant Christians to task by challenging each to refer their church doctrines and traditions to the Bible. The Shift is the author's own personal view from the pew and poses challenging questions to Christian believers from all denominational background on how we view ourselves, our neighbors and the communities in which we live.
