Kitab Munyatu al-Faqir al-Mutajarrid wa Siratu al-Murid al-Mutafarrid merupakan ringkasan kajian nahwu sufi kitab al-Futuhat al-Qudsiyah fi Syarh al-Ajrumiyah karya Ibnu ‘Ujaibah. Penjelasan-penjelasan tasawuf melalui kitab nahwu menuntut para pengkaji untuk menelaah tidak hanya dari satu perspektif ilmu pengetahuan, ia membutuhkan pengetahuan yang mendalam seputar nahwu non-sufistik dan pra-wacana mengenai ilmu tasawuf. Nahwu Sufi telah menempuh cara berpikir sufistik sebagaimana yang telah ditetapkan oleh para ulama sufi, yaitu penafsiran nahwu yang tidak seluruhnya disandarkan pada teks atau logika. Oleh karena itu, karakteristik Nahwu Sufi adalah An-Nahwu Al-Isyari, artinya nahwu dijelaskan melalui metode penafsiran yang berpegang pada metode simbolis yang tidak berhenti hanya pada aspek kebahasaan saja. Nahwu Sufi menjelaskan tentang istilah-istilah dalam nahwu yang berbeda dengan maknanya secara zahir berdasarkan isyarat atau petunjuk yang diterima oleh para ahli sufi. Ulama Sufi mengklaim bahwa metode penafsiran dalam nahwu sufi merupakan metode interpretasi yang valid, yang dibangun atas dualitas makna zahir dan batin. Kebenaran pemikiran sufi hanyalah sufi itu sendiri. Nahwu Sufi dari mulai pengertian tentang kalam sampai majzumat, pada intinya menjelaskan tentang kondisi hati dan jiwa seorang hamba yang memulai perjalanan tasawufnya (suluk), dimulai dari tingkatan zauq, syurb, sahwu, hingga sampai pada tingkatan mukasyafah dan ru’ya. Bahasa Arab adalah bahasa yang spesial. Sebab, dari beribu-ribu bahasa yang ada, ia terpilih sebagai wadah dari wahyu Tuhan yang terakhir bernama al-Qur’an. Tingkat sastra yang sangat tinggi juga menjadikan bahasa Arab dalam al-Qur’an sebagai mukjizat terbesar bagi Muhammad.Terpilihnya bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa al-Qur’an awalnya memang hak preogratif Tuhan. Namun lebih dari itu, hikmah terpilihnya Arab sebagai bahasa mukjizat adalah karena ia memiliki kualitas yang lebih dibanding bahasa-bahasa lainnya. Baik secara kandungan makna dalam kata dan juga tata bahasanya. Sehingga, bisa dikatakan bahasa arab sangat kental dengan nuansa teologis. Kandungan-kandungan istimewa dalam bahasa arab itu rupanya dipahami betul oleh Syaikh Al-Kuhin, sehingga ia mencoba menyingkap bukan hanya “makna dekat”, tapi juga “makna jauh” yang terdapat dalam tata bahasa arab yang sudah terangkum dalam kitab al-jurumiyah. simbol-simbol yang terdapat di dalamnya digunakan Al-Kuhany untuk mengungkapkan realitas dan pengalaman spiritual. Ia melukiskan rahasia di balik eksplorasi pemakaian obyek dan simbol yang diharapkan akan memiliki nilai-nilai pemaknaan yang dalam. Hingga kemudian muncul istilah nahwu lisan & hati.

Abu al-Qasim al-Qushayri merupakan salah satu tokoh sufi yang mempelopori pemaknaan kaidah-kaidah nahwu secara sufistik melalui karyanya Nahw al-Qulub yang disusun dengan menggunakan gaya bahasa yang khas dan bernuansa estetik. Penelitian ini mengungkap bentuk-bentuk gaya bahasa Nahw al-Qulub yang mengimplikasikan estetika. Kedua, penelitian ini juga mengungkap efek makna yang terimplikasi dari bentuk-bentuk gaya bahasa tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan stilistika. Yakni teori yang mengkaji tentang gaya bahasa pada sebuah teks, khususnya pada tiga level analisis berupa morfologi, sintaksis, dan imagery. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah teks Nahw al-Qulub al-Kabir karya al-Qushayri. Selanjutnya, data tersebut dianalisa dengan menggunakan model analisis data Miles dan Huberman berupa empat langkah analisis data. Yakni mengumpulkan data (data collections), menyajikan data (data displays), mereduksi data (data reductions), dan mengambil simpulan analisis (overview of conlclusions). Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa bentuk-bentuk gaya bahasa yang digunakan al-Qushayri dalam mengkonstruksi Nahw al-Qulub bervariasi dan penuh kreatifitas. Gaya bahasa al-Qushyari secara umum ditampilkan dengan mentransformasikan istilah nah}wu ke dalam bingkai sufistik. Kreatifitas gaya bahasa pada konstruksi level morfologi ditampilkan melalui pemilihan kata yang khas, pemilihan bentuk kata melalui wazan-wazan tertentu, dan perpindahan dari satu bentuk kata ke bentuk lain. Pada tataran sintaksis terdapat pola-pola kalimat yang tak lazim seperti taqdim ma haqqahu al-ta’khir, dan tingginya intensitas penggunaan ma mausul sebagai khabar. Pada level imagery, al-Qushyari banyak menggunakan pola-pola isti’arah, tashbih, kinayah, saja’, iqtibas, dan tauriyyah. Efek makna yang ditimbulkan dari penggunaan gaya bahasa tersebut menunjukan eksplorasi atas ajaran sufistik meliputi takhalli, tahalli, tajalli, ma’rifat, maqam jama’ dan farq, serta pendidikan akhlak tasawuf. Penelitian ini mendukung penelitian Faez Alshare (2012), Syahrizal Mahpol (2017), dan Lukman Sumarna (2019) yang menilai bahwa Nahw al-Qulub merupakan sebuah karya yang mengimplikasikan ajaran-ajaran sufistik di dalamnya.
