Nassau and Paradise Island of Bahamas. Paradise Island is the type of place where you go for a luxury getaway and everything you could want or need is within reach. This includes entertainment and many activities to keep you busy, but, if this isn't enough for you, you may want to consider crossing the bridge back to the main section of New Providence Island (specifically Nassau) for cultural, historical, and natural attractions to explore. Paradise Beach: There are a number of small huts which provide a welcomed respite from the sun on this mile-long strip of magnificent white powdery sand. The beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in all of the Bahamas, and the view at sunset will show you exactly why. A second alternative to consider is Cabbage Beach. The most popular beach on Paradise Island, Cabbage Beach is a stunning strip of pearly white sand along the island's northern coast. Though consistently populated, this long beach has ample sand and sun for everyone. However, despite its popularity, there are no public restrooms so don't expect to be allowed the use of facilities unless you plan on having lunch at one of the hotels that line the beach......

Paradise Island, Atlantis, Bahamas. A Guide to Vacation, Honeymoon, Tourism. Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort is very proud of its humble beginnings. What started out as a weekend picnic destination back in the seventies, catering mostly to friends and their families has become what it is today as not only the preferred island getaway for families but is also the byword for those growing impulsive groups who are so busy and yet wise enough to squeeze in leisure in their hectic schedules at the spur of the moment. Having a shoreline of almost eight hundred meters (800 m), it is the only place in this part of Samal Island that has maintained its shores by feeding the fishes, clean them with having periodic "Scubasurero Activities", and has placed a "safety pole" to ward off jelly fish and rubbish, discouraging anglers from poaching the area and encouraging its visitors to enjoy the marine life and leave the same so that others may also enjoy them. Its white sand beach as well as its surroundings are combed and cleaned throughout the day giving a pure and clean ambiance for its visitors and workers alike. Privileged Paradise Island linked to Nassau by two great arcs that may as well be bridges to another world is unashamedly built for profit and pleasure. Its landscape is mostly artificial: vast hotels straight from the covers of fantasy paperbacks, hangar-sized casinos, ersatz 'villages' in which to shop and eat, and the lushest lawns you'll see anywhere in the Bahamas.

Traveling to Bahamas. A Local Guide to New Providence and Nassau Paradise Islands. The culture of the Bahamas includes a mix of African and European influences. People from the Caribbean and the Americas have also affected it. Social conventions and daily life: Most Bahamians value their families, however the number of official weddings declined in the late twentieth century. A single woman, generally the mother, is leading an increasing number of homes. Women were traditionally stay-at-home moms and spouses before the 1940s. Most women now work outside the house as a result of greater educational options and the growth of the tourist sector. Furthermore, by the late twentieth century, Bahamian women had begun to rise to the top of the public sector, finance, law, medicine, politics, and other fields. A maid or domestic worker is frequently employed by middle- and upper-class Bahamian homes. Housework is shared by poorer households. Grits, potatoes, bread, conch, fish, spiny lobster, chicken, and foreign meats are all staple meals. Peas and rice, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, cracked conch, conch salad, fried and steamed fish, and fried chicken are among national specialties. A typical dessert is guava duff, a cooked fruit and bread concoction served with a butter sauce. The asue (a collective savings group), friendly societies and lodges, a long tradition of storytelling, and the usage of bush medicine are all examples of folk practices. Junkanoo, the principal festival and celebration, stands out among traditional group activities.

Bahamas Islands, Vacation Paradise. Caribbean. Nassau, the capital city of The Bahamas, is a wonderful vacation destination because you're not far from the bustling hub of a city, but you still have the relaxing and glorious beaches at your doorstep. Nassau is located on the island of New Providence and the main harbour is protected by Paradise Island, which is accessible via Nassau bridges. Nassau is known for wonderful snorkeling and diving and the adorable pastel-coloured British Colonial buildings in town. It should come as no surprise that the Bahamas encompass the most beautiful islands in the world all 700 of them actually. That's right, there are 700 glorious islands and over 2,000 rocks and cays that form this archipelago haven, which spans 100,000 square miles in the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the clearest blue water in the world is here, as are magnificent coral reefs, natural sand bars and the finest white sandy beaches. Of course, of the 700 islands most are uninhabited, but some are packed with luxurious resorts just waiting to welcome excited visitors to this tropical paradise. Below are some of our favourite places to visit while on the island. Renowned as a maritime playground for sun-starved Americans, this stunning string of subtropical islands is so much more than a cruise-ship stopover. Stretched between the depths of the North Atlantic and Florida's eastern coast, the Bahamas comprises more than 700 islands and 2400 cays, most uninhabited, and all fringed by spectacular coral and fathomless ocean trenches. From the grit and bustle of funky Nassau to the vast mangroves of Andros, there's an astonishing array of beaches, reefs, forests and historic towns to be discovered, all within the compass of an hour's flight. There's sailing around the Abacos' history-filled Loyalist Cays. Partying til dawn at Paradise Island's over-the-top Atlantis resort. Diving the spooky blue holes of Andros. Kayaking the 365 Exuma Cays.
