Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Wirtschaft und Industrie, Note: 2,0, Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Veranstaltung: Grundlagen und Anwendungsfeder der Wirtschaftssoziologie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Seminararbeit werden die wichtigsten Wandlungsaspekte des kapitalistischen Geistes von Luc Boltanski und Ève Chiapello aus ihrem Buch "Der neue Geist des Kapitalismus" erläutert und diskutiert. Ferner wird die natürliche Selektion von Verhaltensweisen (inspiriert durch den universellen Darwinismus) als möglicher weiterer Faktor des Wandlungsmechanismus diskutiert. Der sich ständig wandelnde Kapitalismus ist einer der am häufigsten diskutierten Streitpunkte unserer Gesellschaft. Schon Theoretiker wie Karl Marx und Max Weber haben sich ausgiebig mit dieser Wirtschaftsordnung und ihren Merkmalen beschäftigt. In dem Werk „Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus“ (Weber, 1904/1905) spricht Weber, wie schon im Titel vorzufinden, erstmalig vom „Geist des Kapitalismus“ und versucht zu beschreiben, wie sich dieser zu dem entwickelt hat, was er heute ist. 2003 haben sich auch Luc Boltanski und Eve Chiapello diesem Thema angenommen. Sie beschreiben in ihrem Buch „Der neue Geist des Kapitalismus“ (Boltanski und Chiapello 2003) unter anderem sehr ausführlich, was sie unter einem Geist des Kapitalismus verstehen, wie er entstanden ist, wie er sich entwickelt hat und wie sich dieser verändert. Den Grund für die Veränderungen des kapitalistischen Geistes sehen Boltanski und Chiapello in den Auswirkungen der Wechselbeziehung zwischen dem Kapitalismus und dessen Kritik. An diesem Punkt ergibt sich die Frage, ob sich der Geist des Kapitalismus auch ändert wenn der Kapitalismus selbst keine Kritik erfährt. Ist Kritik wirklich die einzige Variable, welche einen Einfluss auf den kapitalistischen Geist ausübt oder sind auch Veränderungen vorzufinden, die sich nicht als Reaktion dieses Wechselspiels erklären lassen? Kann man solche Veränderungen nachweisen, wäre ebenfalls zu untersuchen welche Strukturen als Ursache dieser Wandlungen fungieren. Eben dieser Aufgabe widmet sich die vorliegende Hausarbeit.

Renowned German social historian Heide Wunder refers to the cosmic image contained in the 1578 Book of Marital Discipline that characterizes the relationship between husband and wife. Today, "He is the sun, she is the moon" might be interpreted as a hierarchy of dominance and subordination. At the time it was used, however, sun and moon reflected the different but equal status of husband and wife. Wunder shows how the history of women and the history of gender relations can provide crucial insights into how societies organize themselves and provide resources for political action. She observes actual circumstances as well as the normative rules that were supposed to guide women's lives. We learn what skills were necessary to take charge of households, what people ate, how they furnished their homes, what birth control measures were available, what role women played in peasant protest. Wunder finds that, in addition to the history of losses and setbacks for women observed by so many current interpreters, there is a history of gains as well. The regency of noble women was normal, as was the shared responsibility of wife and husband in a peasant household, an artisan's workshop, or a merchant's business. Using sources as diverse as memoirs, wedding and funeral sermons, novels, and chronicles, and including a wealth of demographic information, Wunder reveals a surprising new image of early modern women and provides a richer interpretation of early modern Europe.

The range of perspectives and original materials dealt with here highlights the renewed urgency of the struggle for cultural autonomy and voice within the context of globalization. Each author explores how the various processes at both the local and global levels intersect to create new discourses and debates around the "indigenization of knowledge." If a new wind of cultural decolonization is blowing through the Arab Middle East and is having profound impact on the lives of men and women, then we should expect a new scholarship to emerge in order to grasp it. This book is a contribution in that direction. A key dimension concerns the issue of borders and boundaries. These are both real and imaginary (i.e., symbolic and metaphoric), hegemonic and counter-hegemonic. Among these borders are spatial ones that determine individuals' and communities' everyday location and place in the world--these include boundaries of class, gender, territory, and language. Each of these separations in turn has embedded in it, and rests on constructions of "imaginary" borders and boundaries. The real and imaginary do not exist as two disparate entities but are inextricably linked to each other in a dialectical move that simultaneously enables and disables movement and action. Current re-visioning of globalization challenges past suppositions. Globalization is a new form of an ongoing process that took inception during the heyday of colonialism. It might serve as a descriptive term to articulate the current historical period, but it remains theoretically problematic and imprecise. Situating Globalization picks up on the problematics of power and its dispersal and concentration. The bearers of these cultural flows seek legitimacy from their potential constituency by positing their language--cultural and religious--as local and therefore inherently in opposition to the hegemonic cultural knowledge that has seeped in from "outside" and led to disempowerment of local "peoples" and "knowledges." Bearers make no mention to this Islamist knowledge, of the "foreignness" of this idiom to many within the societies in question. Any attempt to contest their positioning and bearers of the indigenous results in charges of either betrayal or brainwashing. Cynthia Nelson is professor of anthropology and dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sarah Lawrence College. She is author of Doria Shafik, Egyptian Feminist: A Woman Apart. Shahnaz Rouse is a member of its sociology faculty. Her research interests and publications cover agrarian transformation; social movements; the state, religion and gender identity.
