Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Fragen der Nationalstaats-Bildung beherrschten am Ende der 80er und zu Beginn der 90er Jahre in Kroatien mehr das politische Geschehen als Fragen der Demokratisierung und des wirtschaftlichen Strukturwandels. Die Politik der kroatischen Staatsführung und ihre nationalen Ideologien, die Verwicklung in den Krieg mit Serbien und in Bosnien-Herzegowina trieben Kroatien ab Mitte der 90er Jahre verstärkt in die sowohl freiwillige als auch erzwungene Isolation. Haben sich diese Prioritäten nun verschoben und ist der kroatische Nationalstaat nun soweit gefestigt, dass mit dem Wechsel der Regierung Anfang 2000 eine Annäherung an westeuropäische Demokratiestandards und nach dem Ausscheiden aus der jugoslawischen Föderation eine verstärkte Integration in und Kooperation mit inter- und supranationalen Organisationen möglich ist? Die vorliegende Arbeit möchte auf den historischen und theoretischen Spuren von Nation(alstaat)sbildung und Demokratisierung den doppelten bzw. dreifachen Systemwandel in Kroatien untersuchen und dabei eine Antwort auf Verlauf und Stand der angestrebten Demokratisierung des kroatischen Systems geben. Using a wide selection of newspapers, journals, monographs, and school textbooks from different regions of the country, the book examines the sensitive issue of the changing perspectives ? often shifting 180 degrees ? on several events discussed in the new narratives of the Stalin years published in the Ukraine since the late Gorbachev period until 2005. These events were pivotal to Ukrainian history in the 20th century, including the Famine of 1932?33 and Ukrainian insurgency during the war years.
