Uber die Benennung und mitunter verfehlte Anordnung seines Buches nicht weiter rech ten, sondern vielmehr dankbar anerkennen, dass dasselbe ci nem fuhlbaren Bedurfnisse abhilft, indem es eine ziemlich vollstandige Sammlung Alles dessen enthalt, was der Anfanger im Lateinschreiben zu beobachten und zu vermeiden hat, wie sie in dieser Art und in diesem Umfang bisher noch nicht vor handen war. Schuler der obern Classen werden das Buch mit grossem Nutzen gebrauchen, und auch Lehrer werden sich freuen, hier zusammengestellt zu finden, was bisher grossen theils in seltnen und theuern Buchern zerstreut war. Wird nun das Buch 'bei den hoffentlich nothig werdenden folgenden Auf lagen eine zweckmassigere Anordnung und hier und da grossere Vollstandigkeit erhalten (weshalb jedoch die Bogenzahl nicht zu wachsen brauchte, indem auch Manches wegfallen konnte), so wird dasselbe wenig oder nichts zu wunschen ubrig lassen. Dass aber der Hr. Verf. Der erste sein wird, die in seinem Eu che befindlichen Mangel bereitwillig anzuerkennen und zu ver bessern, sind wir von ihm nach den bescheidnen Aeusserungen in der herzlichen am Schlusse der Vorrede befindlichen Anrede an seinen Lehrer, den Herrn Professor Heinrich in Bonn, vollkommen uberzeugt.. Von jener Art sind die haufig vor kommenden Amphibolien, vergl. 811 sqq. 899. 1195. 1245, mit denen theils eine Tauschung beabsichtigt wird, indem an etwas Anderes Neoptolemus dabei denkt als Philoktet, theils, wie im Gesprach des Neoptolemus und Odysseus, versteckte Drohungen vorgebracht werden; ferner Andeutungen, wie wenn Philoktet 630 auf den Bericht des Kaufmanns 608 zuruckweist; Antithe sen, wie die unseres -erinnerns noch nicht beachtete von He phastos und Zeus 987, oder Contraste, wie der des wieder erwachenden Glaubens an gottliches Walten (1037) im Vergleich mit der Verzweiflung daran Umsichtigeres Eingehen in die Lage und Sinnesart der handelnden Personen hat mehrere male zum richtigen Verstandniss des Textes geleitet, wie 668, wo das Oo'vu oouvou. Als die Sprache vollen Vertrauens erkannt ist, nachdem Schafer und Wunder darin eine Philoktet's freu diger Hingebung ganz unangemessene Mahnung, den Bogen bal digst wieder zuruckzugeben, gesehen hatten. Eben so ist 657 die Verehrung, mit der Neoptolemus diesen Bogen, welchen einst Herakles fuhrte, begrusst, treffend aufgefasst als ganz con trastirend mit dem trotzigen Uebermuthe, in welchem andere Heroen ihre eigenen Waffen fast anbeten, vergl.
