Fachhochschule Jena, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Laufe der letzten Jahre hat sich das Internet zu einem Massenmedium entwickelt, so dass der eigene Internetanschluss und das Surfen im Netz inzwischen für viele zu einem Stück Normalität geworden ist. Für die meisten heutigen Benutzer ist es einerseits ein Werkzeug zur schnellen und preiswerten Beschaffung und zum Austausch von Informationen und andererseits eröffnet es neue Kommunikationswege und Kontaktmöglichkeiten. Auch der Bildungsbereich blieb von dieser Entwicklung nicht unberührt: Schüler loggen sich von ihrem Klassenzimmer aus in Datennetze ein, besorgen sich Informationen, die sie für eine Arbeit oder ein Referat brauchen oder sie wählen Lernprogramme im Netz aus und bearbeiten sie selbstständig. Neben Büchern, Fachzeitschriften, Fernsehen und Video wird somit auch das Internet als Lernmedium genutzt. Es ist heute ein alltägliches und nicht mehr wegzudenkendes Element der Lernarbeit, welches jedoch erst seit etwa 1997 gezielt zum Lernen eingesetzt wird. 1 Auf Grund dieser Erkenntnisse wird sich diese Arbeit schwerpunktmäßig auf das neue Medium Internet beziehen. In dieser Arbeit will ich nun die Frage klären, inwieweit das Internet in der Schule und im Aus- und Weiterbildungsbereich als Lernmedium eingesetzt werden kann. Dabei werde ich aber nur einige Auszüge aus dem breiten Spektrum der Möglichkeiten aufzeigen. Beginnen werde ich mit einer kurzen Definition und Entstehungsgeschichte des Internets, sowie aktuellen Zahlen. Im zweiten Kapitel wird herausgestellt, welche Bedeutung das Internet und die digitalen Medien allgemein in der heutigen Gesellschaft haben und welche wichtige Rolle sie dort einnehmen. Das dritte Kapitel steht unter dem großen Thema E-Learning. Nach einer kurzen Erläuterung des Begriffes zeige ich im folgenden zwei Möglichkeiten auf, inwieweit das Internet für Lernzwecke genutzt werden kann. Zum einen werden Chancen und Risiken des Internets als Hilfsmittel im Unterrichtsprozess (in der Schule) aus Sicht der Schüler aufgezeigt (wobei es sinnvoll erscheint, den Einsatz neuer Medien erst ab der 5. Klasse im Unterricht aufzunehmen, da in der Grundschule zunächst die Kulturtechniken Lesen, Schreiben und Rechnen gefestigt werden müssen). Untersuchungsgegenstand sind somit Schüler der 5.-12. Klasse, Unis und Hochschulen ausgenommen, da dort das Internet schon ganz selbstverständlich in den Lernprozess integriert ist.
