Neuro Spinal Surgery Operative Techniques: Lateral Mass Fixation in Sub-axial Cervical Spine is a concise, illustrated resource, which provides a step by step guide to the successful insertion of a lateral mass screw. The book is split into two sections; the first covers the basic concepts of lateral mass (the bulky, solid parts of the first vertebra of the spine which support the weight of the head). The second section covers surgical techniques, with surgical procedures accompanied by intraoperative photographs and drawings. This bookis enhanced by over 100 full colour images and illustrations, making this book a highly useful reference tool for spine surgeons.

Validating Neuro Computational Models Of Neurological And Psychiatric Disorders written by Basabdatta Sen Bhattacharya and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-30 with Medical categories.

This book is a collection of articles by leading researchers working at the cutting edge of neuro-computational modelling of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Each article contains model validation techniques used in the context of the specific problem being studied. Validation is essential for neuro-inspired computational models to become useful tools in the understanding and treatment of disease conditions. Currently, the immense diversity in neuro-computational modelling approaches for investigating brain diseases has created the need for a structured and coordinated approach to benchmark and standardise validation methods and techniques in this field of research. This book serves as a step towards a systematic approach to validation of neuro-computational models used for studying brain diseases and should be useful for all neuro-computational modellers.

Handbook Of Neuro Oncology Neuroimaging written by Herbert B. Newton and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-11-28 with Medical categories.

Although the field of Neuro-Oncology has grown considerably in the last 10 to 15 years and has a rather extensive literature, there are no comprehensive, “single-source books that summarize the current literature and future trends of neuroimaging in neuro-oncology. This book covers this topic in more comprehensive fashion, making it an important addition to the armamentarium of physicians that care for patients with brain tumors and other neuro-oncological disorders. Well-founded in basic science, it includes chapters that provide an overview of relevant background material in critical areas such as physics, contrast agents, ultra-high field brain MRI, and molecular imaging.

Diagnostic Assessment And Treatment Of Peripheral Nerve Tumors written by Fernando Guedes and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-24 with Medical categories.

Tumors involving peripheral nerves may be extremely challenging lesions to diagnose and treat. In order to optimize their management, physicians should have a thorough knowledge of peripheral nerve anatomy and pathology (both gross and microscopic), as well as familiarity with microsurgical techniques and intraoperative neurophysiological recording. This compendium deals with all aspects of tumors affecting peripheral nerves, from diagnosis to treatment; the topics it addresses range from epidemiology, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and clinical diagnosis to electrophysiology, imaging, genetic/cytomolecular aspects. Surgical approaches, biopsies and resection of various benign, malignant and pseudo-tumoral lesions, plexus tumors (both brachial and lumbosacral), and adjunctive treatment modalities and pain-related issues are described in detail. The book is intended not only for neurosurgeons, hand surgeons, plastic and orthopedic surgeons new to the field, but also for seasoned specialists who wish to update their knowledge with new insights based on robust experimental and clinical material. In addition, it will be a helpful tool for general and oncological surgeons who are sometimes faced with the treatment of mass lesions that may be potential nerve tumors, and for all practitioners who are engaged in the arduous struggle to bring relief to patients affected by these lesions.

Neuro Oncology written by Roger J. Packer and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-30 with Medical categories.

The aim of the Neurology in Practice series is to provide a clinical 'in the office' or 'at the bedside' guide to effective patient care for neurologists in practice and in training. The tone will be practical, not academic. The working assumption is that readers want to know what (and what not) might or should be done, without over emphasis on the why. That said, it is important to review the crucial basic science necessary for effective diagnosis and management, and to provide reminders in the context of the practical chapters. The books will not be heavily referenced, in line with a more practical approach. This allows for smoother reading (and also relieves the burden of comprehensive citing from authors). Key evidence (clinical trials, Cochrane or other meta analyses) should be summarized in 'Evidence at a Glance' boxes and key references such as reviews, major papers can be provided in the 'selected bibliography' at the end of each chapter. Practical guidance will be provided through: the use of algorithms and guidelines where they are appropriate 'Tips and Tricks' boxes – hints on improving outcomes perhaps via practical technique, patient questioning etc 'Caution' warning boxes – hints on avoiding problems, perhaps via contraindications 'Science Revisited' – quick reminder of the basic science principles necessary for understanding

Fundamentals Of Neurophysiology written by Robert F. Schmidt and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Medical categories.

Although just two years have passed since the first English edition of this book, advances in neurophysiology have dictated considerable revision of most of the chapters. The chapters on synaptic transmis sion, motor systems, and the autonomie nervous system, for example, have been revised, extended, and in some parts entirely rewritten. In response to a frequently expressed wish, a chapter on the in tegrative functions of the nervous system has been added. Here the use of the term "integrative functions" expresses our lack of a better general term covering such diverse activities and states of the nervous system as waking, sleeping, dreaming, consciousness, speech, leam ing, and memory. This chapter also includes an introduction to the physiology of the cerebral cortex and the characteristics of the elec troencephalogram. Another new section is a chapter on the control-systems aspects of central nervous activity, a reßection of the fact that many processes, particularly those involving motor activity and the autonomie nervous system, can best be described and analyzed in terms of control theory. The previous Chapter 7, Sensory Systems, has been largely included in another volume, "Fundamentals of Sensory Physiology." Finally-again at the suggestion of readers-a bibliography has been added to guide the student further into the topics of the indi vidual chapters. Most of the references are re cent; they offer access to the current originalliterature.

The Springer Handbook of Bio-/Neuro-Informatics is the first published book in one volume that explains together the basics and the state-of-the-art of two major science disciplines in their interaction and mutual relationship, namely: information sciences, bioinformatics and neuroinformatics. Bioinformatics is the area of science which is concerned with the information processes in biology and the development and applications of methods, tools and systems for storing and processing of biological information thus facilitating new knowledge discovery. Neuroinformatics is the area of science which is concerned with the information processes in biology and the development and applications of methods, tools and systems for storing and processing of biological information thus facilitating new knowledge discovery. The text contains 62 chapters organized in 12 parts, 6 of them covering topics from information science and bioinformatics, and 6 cover topics from information science and neuroinformatics. Each chapter consists of three main sections: introduction to the subject area, presentation of methods and advanced and future developments. The Springer Handbook of Bio-/Neuroinformatics can be used as both a textbook and as a reference for postgraduate study and advanced research in these areas. The target audience includes students, scientists, and practitioners from the areas of information, biological and neurosciences. With Forewords by Shun-ichi Amari of the Brain Science Institute, RIKEN, Saitama and Karlheinz Meier of the University of Heidelberg, Kirchhoff-Institute of Physics and Co-Director of the Human Brain Project.
