For two years Rajindra Puri lived and hunted with the Penan Benalui people in the rainforest of eastern Borneo in Indonesia. Here he reports on Penan hunting techniques, the knowledge required to be a successful hunter, and the significance of hunting for Penan communities. A hunt offers the opportunity for younger Penan to learn crucial survival skills, knowledge of the environment, local geography, genealogy, history, and beliefs and values. Songs and stories recount hunting adventures and legends, while ceremonial dances demonstrate the coordination and agility required of the expert hunter. The author makes a case for using active participant-observation, in conjunction with standard ethnobiological research methods, for documenting non-verbal knowledge. Included here are 21 months of hunting records and comprehensive appendices on game species and ethnobiological data. This work will be useful to anthropologists, conservation biologists, and those interested in Indonesian ethnobiology.

A harrowing battle against the Lords leaves the Rungans without weapons or supplies. Colm splits the tired Rungan warriors into two groups. As both make the climb to the summit, the Lords begin their pursuit. The Lords discover that they are not well suited for the climb or the cold, and their calls for reinforcements are met with confusion and catastrophe. Still, they too create two groups and each pursues the Warrior groups up the mountain. Halfway up, they decide to camp out and wait for the Warriors to run out of supplies and return to the ground and right into their hands. Though they believe they can wipe them out, the Lords instead wish to use the Rungans, to turn them against the Spears with false promises. Before these promises can be heard, however, the Warriors plan their victory, using their knowledge of the forest to their advantage, making weapons out of nature in an overwhelming defeat of the Lords.

Pada minggu-minggu tersebut (masa raya gerejawi), gereja-gereja dipersilahkan menggunakan bahan khotbah yang diterbitkan oleh Lembaga Pembinaan dan Pengkaderan (LPP) Sinode GKJ dan GKI SW Jateng, baik untuk Masa Paska, Masa Pentakosta, Bulan Keluarga, dan Masa Adven Natal. Penyusunan Khotbah Jangkep 2018 melibatkan penulis dari Klasis Semarang Barat, Klasis Semarang Selatan dan Klasis Semarang Timur. Oleh karena itu disampaikan terima kasih atas semua kerja keras menghasilkan tulisan-tulisan dalam buku ini. Demikian juga kami menyampaikan ucapan terima kasih kepada Tim Editor Khotbah Jangkep yang juga telah bekerja keras sampai bahan tulisan ini siap naik cetak.
