The 19th Century Danish writer, Steen Steensen Blicher deserves to stand alonngside the great writers of world literature, from Boccaccio to Manupassant, and this selection of his work will make a group of his most important stories available in the English-speaking world. These reveal not only the writer himself but the country and culture which formed him in the early years of the 19th Century. Although the subject matter is deeply and truely that of Denmark, his account of human relationships is timeless and he deploys the true storyteller's art.

Doing Qualitative Research Differently written by Wendy Hollway and has been published by SAGE this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-04-28 with Social Science categories.

This is both a `how to' book and one that critically reviews many of the assumptions, claims and methods of qualitative research. Applying a psycho-social understanding of subjectivity to research practice involves conceptualising researcher and researched as co-producers of meanings in the research relationship. The authors use the notion of the "defended subject" to indicate that people will defend themselves against any anxieties in the information they provide in a research context. To interpret interviewees' responses should entail developing a method in which narratives are central, as should a strategy of interpretation in which interviewees' free associations are given precedence over narrative coherence. Performing Personality written by David Crider and has been published by Lexington Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-07 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This book examines how radio announcers construct, prepare, and perform their on-air personalities during a time when the radio industry is fighting to stay relevant amid expanding media options. Crider conducted interviews with key on-air personnel at eleven broadcast stations in order to analyze how each individual created a narrative on-air personality, conducted conversations outside of their performance, were affected by the setting and situation, embraced the role of the listening audience, and reduced the social distance between them and listener. Crider argues that the successful deployment of on-air identity across multiple channels (in-person, online, and through social media as well as broadcast) provides assurance that a space for radio will remain despite the expanding number of media options.

This book argues that the personal voice, which is often disparaged in journalism teaching, is and always has been a prevalent form of journalism. Paradoxically, the aim of 'objective' reporters is often to be known for a distinctive 'voice'. This personal voice is becoming increasingly visible in the context of 'the confessional society'.

This volume of essays is the result of the EU project -EHISTO-, which dealt with the mediation of history in popular history magazines and explored how history in the commercialised mass media can be used in history teaching in order to develop the media literacy and the transcultural competences of young people. The volume offers articles which for the first time address the phenomenon of popular history magazines in Europe and their mediating strategies in a foundational way. The articles are intended as introductory material for teachers and student teachers. The topic also offers an innovative approach in terms of making possible a European cross-country comparison, in which results based on qualitative and quantitative methods are presented, related to the content focus areas profiled in the national magazines."

Up And Out Of Poverty written by Philip T. Kotler and has been published by Pearson Prentice Hall this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-06-11 with Business & Economics categories.

In this book, legendary marketing expert Philip Kotler and social marketing innovator Nancy Lee consider poverty from a radically different and powerfully new viewpoint: that of the marketer. Kotler and Lee assess each proposed path to poverty reduction, from traditional large-scale foreign aid to improved education and job training, economic development to microfinance. They offer powerful new insights into why so many anti-poverty programs fail - and propose a new paradigm that can achieve far better results. Kotler and Lee show how to apply advanced marketing strategies and techniques - including segmentation, targeting, and positioning - to systematically put in place the conditions poor people need to escape poverty. Through real case studies, you'll learn how these marketing techniques can help promote health, education, community building, personal motivation, and more. The authors provide the first complete, marketing-informed methodology for addressing specific poverty-related problems - and assessing the results. They also demonstrate how national and local anti-poverty programs can be improved by more effectively linking government, NGOs, and private companies. Over the past 30 years, the authors' social marketing techniques have been successfully applied to health care, environmental protection, family planning, and many other social challenges. Now, Kotler and Lee show how they can be applied to the largest social challenge of all: global poverty.
