Excerpt from Nibelungen und Kudrun in Auswahl und Mittelhochdeutsche Grammatik mit Kurzem Worterbuch Ein Versuch wie der hier vorliegende hat mit zwei Hauptpunkten zu rechnen: dem Lehrer und Lemendeu ein leicht zugangliches Buchlein zu beschaii'en, eine Forderung, der von Seiten der Verlagshandlung gewiss mit dem ge falligen und wohli'eileu Bundchen aufs Beste entsprochen wird, und eine geschickte Auswahl des Stoli'ce zu treii'en. Wo noch Mittelhochdeutsch auf Schulen getrieben wird, ist die Lekture der Nibelungen und Kudrun im ganzen Umfang doch kaum moglich, aus Zeitmangel und weil vieles eben nicht gut; hiezn sich eignet, der asthetische Eindruck durch den lang athmigen epischen Stil auch merklich geschadigt wird. Falls der Lehrer nicht selber als Fachmann die richtige Auswahl zu treffen vermag, soll ihm das Bandchen ent gegenkommen. Der Abriss der Grammatik bietet in ge drangter Kurze das Notwendigste zum Verstandnis leich terer mittelhochdeutscher Texte. Er soll aber auch den Blick fur die geschichtliche Auffassung der deutschen Sprache scharfen, nicht bloss eine mechanische Formenaufzahlung geben. Ich schloss mich bei der Abfassung an 0. Brennen grammatische Einleitung zur 4. Auflage von Englmanns mhd. Leselmch, Munchen 1887 an. Einzelne bibliographische Winke schienen hiebei am Platze zu sein, um eventuell weitere Aufklarung rasch und bequem zu ermoglichen. Fiir die Texte wahlte ich die von Bartsch, um Einheitliches zu.
