Introduction To Value Theory written by Nicholas Rescher and has been published by University Press of Amer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1982-01-01 with Philosophy categories.

A reprint of the popular 1969, Prentice-Hall edition, the principal innovation of this philosophical introduction to value theory is its focus upon values as they are dealt with in everyday life situations, and have sometimes been studied by sociologists and social psychologists, rather than upon value as has been standard in the philosophical tradition. The treatment of values is developed in the light of relevant work in the social sciences, particularly economics. The result is a book suitable as a textbook for upper-class and graduate courses in the theory of values and as supplementary material for both courses in normative ethics and foundations-oriented courses in economic theory.

ON THE FUTURE OF PERSPECTIVES When Patrick Bateson and Peter Klopfer offered me the editorship of Perspectives in 1992, the world of academic publishing was in one of its periodic upheavals. Subscriptions to series-even distinguished series such as Perspec tives-had been declining and individual volume prices had been rising, a trend that if continued could only result in the series pricing itself out of the market. In the course of the negotiations around the change of editors, the publishers offered a cost-cutting solution: change the production pattern to "camera ready" and elimi nate the costs of indexing and proofreading. While I could see the sense in this proposal, I was reluctant to accept it. Part of what I had always liked about the volumes in this series was that they were real books, intelligently proofread, nicely laid out, and provided with proper indexes. Thus, I in return offered a "Devil's bargain": the publisher should maintain the present quality of the series for two more volumes and make a renewed effort to advertise the series to our ethological and sociobiological colleagues, while I as the new series editor committed myself to a renewed effort to make Perspectives the publication of choice for writers who are trying to get their message out to the world intact and readers who are seeking clear, coherent, comprehensive and untrammeled presentations of authors' ideas and research programs.

Living The Brand written by Nicholas Ind and has been published by Kogan Page Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Business & Economics categories.

A company's workforce is its most valuable asset. It is the employees who translate an organziation's strategy into reality, interact with consumers and determine the corporate brand. In this fully updated second edition, Nicholas Ind demonstrates how a participatory approach can enhance employee commitment, improve service standards and focus effort to deliver business goals. This can be achieved by building meaning, purpose and values into the organization to foster a culture of enthusiastic employee participation. This practical and inspirational book is about how organizations can empower and enthuse their employees to create 'brand champions'. The themes of Living the Brand are:employees flourish in organizations where they identify with the brand;organizations flourish when the brand has relevance and creates meaning;purpose and values are not created - they exist; the issue is how well they are articulated and embedded;brand clarity creates freedom;brands come to life when the boundaries between the internal and external blur;stories and myths are important for sustaining brands;living the brand requires imagination. With the use of original international case studies, Nicholas Ind discusses the insights and problems of articulating and then delivering brands through people. The book examines the nature of branding and why people have become such important definers of the brand. The conclusion being that both organizations and people need values - it is essential to their well-being and sense of worth.
