Fatullah Al-Kasyani mendakwa Rasulullah s.a.w. menyatakan, “Sesiapa yang melakukan satu kali nikah mut'ah, maka darjatnya sama dengan darjat Husain. Sesiapa yang melakukan nikah mut'ah sebanyak dua kali, maka darjatnya sama dengan darjat Hasan. Sesiapa yang melakukan nikah mut'ah sebanyak tiga kali, maka darjatnya sama dengan darjat Ali bin Talib. Sesiapa yang melakukan nikah mut'ah sebanyak empat kali, maka darjatnya sama denganku (Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.).” Benarkah begitu?

All the Sahabah – including Abu Bakr and 'Umar - considered mut'ah to be halal throughout the lifetime of the Prophet, and throughout the rule of Abu Bakr. For most of the era of 'Umar, all the Sahabah generally affirmed the permissibility of mut'ah. However, at the end of his caliphate, he made it haram; and that changed everything. The generality of the Sahabah obeyed him; and only a handful remained steadfast in affirming the permissibility of temporary marriage. Some of the Tabi'in also proclaimed it halal. However, the number of the pro-mut'ah elements continued to dwindle among the Ahl al-Sunnah, until none – or almost none - accepted it anymore. The Shi'is, on their part, have remained unshakable and unyielding on the permissibility of temporary marriage – from the time of the Messenger till this very day of ours.

Excerpt: Muhammad's wives were the eleven or thirteen women married to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Muslims refer to them as Mothers of the Believers (Arabic: Ummah t ul-Mu min n). Muslims use the term prominently before or after referring to them as a sign of respect. The term is derived from Qur'an 33:6: Muhammad's life is traditionally delineated as two epochs: pre-hijra (emigration) in Mecca, a city in northern Arabia, from the year 570 to 622, and post-hijra in Medina, from 622 until his death in 632. All but two of his marriages were contracted after the Hijra (migration to Medina). During his life Muhammad married eleven or thirteen women depending upon the differing accounts of who were his wives. Muhammad's first marriage lasted 25 years. In Arabian culture, marriage was generally contracted in accordance with the larger needs of the tribe and was based on the need to form alliances within the tribe and with other tribes. Virginity at the time of marriage was emphasized as a tribal honor. Watt states that all of Muhammad's marriages had the political aspect of strengthening friendly relationships and were based on the Arabian custom. Esposito points out that some of Muhammad's marriages were aimed at providing a livelihood for widows. Francis Edwards Peters says that it is hard to make generalizations about Muhammad's marriages: many of them were...

Temporary Marriage In Sunni And Shiite Islam written by Khalid Sindawi and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with RELIGION categories.

The main objective of the study on temporary marriage in Shiite and Sunni Islam by Khalid Sindawi is to analyze and survey the views of Islamic jurists both ancient and modern on the issue of temporary marriage, that is, a marriage that is limited in time, and whether such a marriage is licit or not. Using juridical texts, religious rulings (fatawa), independent opinions and more, this study illuminates the main disputes among early and modern Islamic scholars and tracks the sources of the obvious disagreements on this matter in Islamic religious circles. It also discusses the social aspects of temporary marriage as well as the influence that social sentiments may have had on the way in which this institution has been appraised in Islamic law. After the introduction that explores the concept of marriage, its conditions and laws, the encouragement of matrimony in Islamic law, divorce and annulment of marriage, and the two types of legal marriage, permanent and temporary, different marriage types from the pre-Islamic times up to modern times are presented. Sindawi also discusses usufruct marriage (muta) in Islamic jurisprudence and the attendant social customs among Twelver Shiites, deals with travel marriage (misyar) in Islamic jurisprudence and Sunni social practice, describes what is known as "friend marriage" and the views of Islamic jurists on this kind of liaison, and summarizes the points of similarity and difference between usufruct, travel and "friend" marriage.
