"Nines d"abocador" és una novel·la coral sobre un conjunt d"exalumnes i les seqüeles psíquiques sofertes per aquests, després de l"educació rebuda en un col·legi regit pel sadisme d"un professor. Entre aquests exalumnes es troba Martín Gonzalo Capdevila, policia criminalista les aventures del qual tenen lloc a la ciutat de Barcelona. Bandejat al seu poble natal, a la mateixa localitaton se situa el seu antic col·legi, a causa d"una irregularitat comesa durant les seves atribucions com a policia, haurà d"investigar unes aparicions misterioses de cadàvers sobre la superfície d"un llac. A poc a poc, les aparicions fantasmagòriques dels morts s"imbricaran en les històries individuals dels personatges, després que les recerques del policia arribin a un punt mort. "Nines d"abocador" comparteix, amb altres novel·les de gènere negre, aquesta capacitat d"incidir sobre els aspectes socials intocables d"aquells llocs on s"ambienta l"acció d"aquest tipus d"històries. En aquest cas, els draps bruts exposats per la novel·la, farien referència als mal tractaments exercits contra la infància pel sistema educatiu franquista. Abusos sexuals, pallisses i agressions de tot tipus les víctimes dels quals viuen emmordassades encara per la por i la culpa, impedint amb això la necessària catarsi que països com Irlanda ja han emprès. "Nines d"abocador" és una novel·la atípica, dura i descarnada, que transcendeix per sobre del relat purament policíac per convertir-se en una radiografia de la Catalunya de la dècada del 2000, anterior al "Procés" i a l"explosió de la bombolla immobiliària.

Per primer cop, els textos dramàtics que s'han conservat de Mercè Rodoreda es posen a disposició del lector fidel de la seva obra literària. Coneixedor ja de la seva obra narrativa -novel·les i contes- i de la seva obra poètica, li mancava conèixer la totalitat de la seva producció dramàtica. Alguns dels textos -Un dia, La senyora Florentina i el seu amor Homer i El maniquí- són ja coneguts per part del nostre públic, que els ha vist representar amb èxit i en les millors condicions artístiques en els últims vint-i-cinc anys. D'altres -El parc de les magnòlies o L'hostal de les tres camèlies-, quan van ser escenificats no van tenir malauradament el ressò i el reconeixement que eren d'esperar, i demanen ara ser acollits de nou per l'escena amb altres peces teatrals inèdites com Les flors i El mirall del record, o poc conegudes com Viure al dia. Tres textos inacabats, tanmateix igualment suggeridors -Maria-Blanca, Joc de bruixes i Sense títol-, completen l'edició del teatre de Rodoreda. Qui conegui l'obra literària d'una de les grans escriptores del segle xx, s'hi sentirà de nou còmode i de gust amb la seva lectura; qui ho faci per primer cop descobrirà un univers literari enlluernador. Com en el conjunt de la seva obra narrativa, Rodoreda observa atentament el comportament d'homes i dones, reflexiona sobre la seva condició de manera desacomplexada i desinhibida, entre el somriure i el riure que pot mutar en ganyota, i el dolor i el plor contingut d'uns personatges devastats per l'inexorable pas del temps. Un altre cop de manera commovedora, Rodoreda mostra les seves criatures com un mirall més de la seva pròpia existència dins el marc d'un segle vint carregat de grans expectatives, il·lusions i esperances que van derivar sovint en grans o petites tragèdies o drames tant de caràcter col·lectiu com individual. Desfici existencial, complexitat i dolor en les relacions sentimentals, dolor insuportable davant la mort d'uns paradisos perduts, si mai no van existir, tot plegat expressat amb la brillantor, el domini i l'eficàcia d'un dels models de llengua literària més personals i reeixits de la literatura catalana del segle passat: el de Mercè Rodoreda.

This 2-volume set provides a state-of-the-art study of the fossil record and taxonomy of the main vertebrate groups from Greece. Greece stands between 3 continents and its vertebrate fossil record is of great importance for paleontological and evolutionary studies in Europe, Asia and Africa. Fossils from classic, world-famous localities (e.g., Pikermi, Samos) form an essential part of the collections of the most important museums in the world and have been studied by numerous scientists. Recent paleontological research led to the discovery and study of numerous new sites. The volumes contain a taxonomic review of all named and identified taxa, their taxonomic history and current status, as well as historical, phylogenetic and biogeographic information. Volume 1 contains a synopsis of the fossil record and taxonomy of important groups of vertebrates represented in the fossil record of Greece. The volume deals with some of the early splitting clades, including the basal and enigmatic conodonts and basal tetrapods like fishes, amphibians, and reptiles like lizards, snakes, crocodiles, turtles and tortoises. The second part of the volume deals with basal mammalian clades, some of which are quite characteristic for the fossil record of the country: aardwarks, hyraxes, proboscideans, elephants and mammoths, sea cows, rodents, and lagomorphs.
