Agency And Causal Explanation In Economics written by Peter Róna and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-07 with Philosophy categories.

This open access book provides an exploration of the consequences of the ontological differences between natural and social objects (sometimes described as objects of nature and objects of thought) in the workings of causal and agency relationships. One of its important and possibly original conclusions is that causal and agency relationships do not encompass all of the dependent relationships encountered in social life. The idea that social reality is contingent has been known (and largely undisputed) at least since Wittgenstein’s “On Certainty”, but social science, and most notably economics has continued to operate on the basis of causal and agency theories borrowed or adapted from the natural sciences. This volume contains essays that retain and justify the partial or qualified use of this approach and essays that totally reject any use of causal and agency theory built on determined facts (closed systems). The rejection is based on the possibly original claim that, whereas causation in the objects of the natural sciences reside in their properties, human action is a matter of intentionality. It engages with critical realist theory and re-examines the role of free will in theories of human action in general and economic theory in particular.

Dr. Graham lifts the veil between the visible and the invisible world to give us an eye-opening account of these behind-the-scenes agents. This best-selling classic records the experiences of Dr. Graham and others who are convinced that at moments of special need they have been attended by angels. Yes, angels are real. They are not the product of your imagination. Dr. Graham lifts the veil between the visible and the invisible world to give us an eye-opening account of these behind-the-scenes agents. This best-selling classic (with more than 750k copies in print) records the experiences of Dr. Graham and others who are convinced that at moments of special need they have been attended by angels. With keen insight and conviction, Dr. Graham affirms that: God's invisible hosts are better organized than any of the armies of man—or Satan. Angels "think, feel, will, and display emotions." Angels guide, comfort, and provide for people in the midst of suffering and persecution. At death, the faithful will be ushered by angels into the presence of God. “If we had open spiritual eyes we would see not only a world filled with evil spirits and powers—but also powerful angels with drawn swords, set for our defense.” —Billy Graham

Elizabeth Gaskell We Are Not Angels written by T. Wright and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-11-15 with Fiction categories.

This new study deals with the whole range of Gaskell's fiction, approaching her as a deeply poetic novelist and short-story writer. Among topics covered are women and the creation of the self, death and personal integrity, the status of words as utterance and the shape and meaning of individual lives. While seeing her as a product of her age, Wright transcends narrow categorisations of her work to read her 'whole' as a subtle exponent of the values of a humane realism.
