This book sets forth the impressions made upon the author by the glimpses obtained in a journey around the world, and it must be remembered that im pressions can honestly differ among truthful, observing, studious travelers. This diary was written at the request of a loved one who was unable to accompany me, and with whom I thus hoped, in a small degree, to share my daily experiences, but with no thought of publication.
