El trasfondo descrito en la novela sobre la vida en Valencia, así como los lugares, los restaurantes, las especialidades culinarias son auténticos dentro del contexto de una historia inventada, e invita a conocer el sur de España y la propia ciudad de Valencia. Y va a caer… como decíamos ayer reúne en dos volúmenes los informes mensuales de coyuntura política surgidos al calor del llamado Taller de Análisis Político, realizado durante diez años, entre 1980 y 1989. Participaban en el Taller, entre muchos otros miembros menos permanentes, Enzo Faletto, Julieta Kirkwood, Eduardo Morales, Rodrigo Alvayay, Leopoldo Benavides y Rodrigo Baño, redactor de los informes. Este último reconoce que el objetivo principal de estos y del taller al cual daban vida era "molestar lo más posible", particular manera de describir el acto deliberado de producir movimiento y discusión política en la época de mayor censura y represión de la historia de Chile. Los informes eran remitidos cada mes a dirigentes sindicales, organizaciones poblacionales y estudiantiles, y a intelectuales, políticos y sacerdotes comprometidos con las causas populares y nacionales. Tanto el formato físico -impresión vía mimeógrafo- como el lenguaje coloquial utilizado en su redacción dan cuenta de la condición marginal de los informes en el contexto de la gran política. Sin embargo, tanto la rigurosidad conceptual en que se basan como la lucidez y amplitud analítica que despliegan ante cada una de las principales coyunturas los instalan como un documento fundamental para la comprensión de aquella década y de las que les han sucedido. El presente Tomo I contiene los Informes de Coyuntura Política del período julio de 1980-diciembre de 1984, mientras que el Tomo II, los del período enero de 1985-diciembre de 1989.
