Novelle umoristiche by Adolfo Albertazzi Nacque l'8 settembre 1866 a Bologna, da madre oriunda imolese e da padre anch'esso romagnolo. Studiò da prima per prepararsi all'Accademia Militare di Torino, ma dai suoi stessi maestri fu consigliato e indotto a prendere la via delle lettere. Laureato nel 1890, per due anni insegnò al Ginnasio Guinizelli di Bologna, d'onde passò successivamente agli Istituti Tecnici di Foggia e di Mantova. Le polemiche erudite suscitate dal suo lavoro Romanzieri e romanzi del 500 e del 600, per il quale il Carducci gli ottenne il premio Vittorio Emanuele dell'Università di Bologna, lo persuasero che non sarebbe più riuscito, - appunto perchè "carducciano" - a far carriera e si tenne pago dell'Istituto Tecnico di Bologna, senza più partecipare ad alcun concorso. Adolfo Albertazzi scrisse e pubblicò per trenta anni novelle e romanzi che gli valsero un'estesa notorietà e una viva simpatia. Semplice e probo nella vita e nel lavoro, egli divise il suo tempo fra le cure dell'insegnamento, a cui rimase sempre fedele, e la solitudine della sua villetta di Castel San Pietro, dove, sorridente e gentile alle cose semplici e buone della terra, cercò e trovò la sua ispirazione al lavoro indefesso.
