Sardinia, 1222 BC, the Nuragic civilization is flourishing and Fish, the boy with long braids, comes back to his village, Geste, after the incredible adventure in the nuraghe of Antinoo, in the search of an elusive Lydian treasure. He is overwhelmed with the most gloomy discouragement and with disillusion, like all of us when the dream which we have invested so much work in and made enormous sacrifices for does not come true. But there is always a dim ray of hope and, for the lad, it is represented by the little female statuette that he has dexterously seized inside the Bull God nuraghe. The Mycenaean symbols engraved on it will be interpreted by the high priest Noname, an enigmatic figure, who will drive Fish to face again an adventurous journey through the wild regions of the central Sardinia, bound for Antinoo. His path will be studded with strange encounters, from which he will learn lessons that only real life can give us and, much against his will, he will find himself facing unexpected intrigues in what will prove to be a true Nuragic odyssey.

At least once in life, influenced by a book we have just read or a movie we have just seen, each of us has dreamt of being projected in a fabulous world by simply crossing a “mysterious” threshold, as for instance the surface of an old mirror, maybe covered with opaque signs of time. Well, those who visit Sardinia at a slow pace, taking long walks, will find themselves, without passing through any mirror, as by magic, surrounded by an enchanted world where the harsh and wild nature makes us feel ancestral emotions. And that is what happens to Fish, the Nuragic boy with long braids, in this new adventure in search of a mysterious treasure and maybe of his identity, with the aid of his bearded friend Flam and of his grandfather Siso under false pretenses. Talking about traditions, have you ever wondered what is the origin of the age-old and sometimes dark characters, such as the Mamuthones, the Thurpos, S’Urthu and many more, who still liven up the Sardinian carnivals?! They come from the cult of Dionysus, the god Bacchus for the ancient Romans, widespread in Sardinia and in the Mediterranean in ancient times, which initially entered the island when Nuragic people came into contact with Minoans first and Mycenaean later. As for the “maze” mentioned in the title… I invite you to spend a pleasant time reading this book!

This graphic novel is meant to be a portrait of the Nuragic civilization which, at the time the novel is set, in 1222 BC, was the most advanced one in the western Mediterranean. Nuragic people did not leave any writings or, at least, they did not come to us. Nevertheless, they erected towers up to twenty meters tall, with tholos domes and helicoidal staircases inside their cyclopean stone walls. Cyclopean stone walls that just bear a close resemblance to the ones of the Greek cities of Tiryns and Mycenae, the cradle of the Mycenaean civilization, coeval with the Nuragic one. Nuragic architecture had something sensational, and something extraordinary was also its spread in the island of silver veins. But what is the ancient link between Lydia and Sardinia? Let us just think about the name of the Lydian capital, Sardis, and how, in the first volume of “The Histories”, Herodotus already wrote about the famine which struck that region and its grievous consequences during the reign of Atys… In this volume Fish, a Nuragic boy of humble origins, makes his first appearance. Because of a tragic event he witnesses, he is suddenly catapulted into a venture seemingly bigger than him: the search of a mysterious treasure brought to Sardinia by some Lydian settlers. But unexpected qualities will be shown by the boy faced with the inevitable adversities and he will discover that his search is heading towards another treasure that all of us have close at hand, but that often we lose sight of… ourselves!

Gianna Kostas is on the cusp of a fairy-tale life. Sure, she's just lost her job, but she's about to marry one of New York's most eligible bachelors. On her way to taste wedding cakes, though, things go sideways. Shocking news sends Gia off on a wild journey halfway around the world in pursuit of her ailing—and nearly estranged—father. In Athens, she learns Dr. Kostas, a classics professor, is determined to retrace Odysseus's famous voyage. This is a journey her father is in no condition to take alone, so Gia faces a tough decision. When an unexpected job offer helps seal the deal and quash the guilt Gia feels from her disapproving groom-to-be, the journey is on. But as Gia adventures—and eats—her way around the Mediterranean, she discovers that confronting epic storms and ripped surfer dudes might be the easy part. The Odyssey is considered to be the most beautiful literary work of the Western civilization, and Homer the first and the greatest poet ever. The book Demystifying the Odyssey is interpreting Homers epic in a unique and completely new way. For the first time in literature, this book explains the events and phenomena that Odysseus saw and experienced, and which were considered so far as a result of the Poets rich imagination. So, this book reveals how Odysseus went to Hades kingdom of the dead souls; what are in reality Scylla and Charybdis; who were the sirens; how the Island of Aeolus, the ruler of the winds, actually floated; how Circa turned Odysseuss sailors into pigs and other. Besides that, this book also reveals the fallacy two and a half millennia long, dating back from the first historians Herodotus and Thucydides, according to which Odysseus was wandering the Mediterranean sea. It further provides numerous proofs that Homers hero was actually wandering the Adriatic. For all those readers who are familiar with the ancient Greek literature this book will be great news and quite a surprise. On the other hand, for those who have not been quite aware of the old Greek world it will provide great knowledge on the first European civilization. In any case, this will surely be an interesting reading for all of them.
