Come�ou sua vida profissional como rep�rter em S�o Lu�s, na R�dio Timbira, em 1958. Na �rea atuava desde 1956, ano em que - juntamente com Brand�o Monteiro, jornalista, advogado, ex-deputado federal e secret�rio de Estado no Rio - redigia, editava e vendia o jornal "Tribuna Estudantil".Em 1959 entra no "Jornal do Dia", colabora com o "Jornal Pequeno", o "Tribuna Estudantil", �rg�o da Uni�o Maranhense dos Estudantes Secund�rios, que presidiu entre 1958 e 1959. Entre 1961 e 1963 assume a Secretaria de Reda��o do "Jornal do Povo", de propriedade do jornalista Neiva Moreira e dirigido pelo poeta Bandeira Tribuzzi. Nessa fase foi presidente do Diret�rio Acad�mico da Faculdade de Direito e Secret�rio Geral da UME, entidade universit�ria.No Golpe de 64, com o "Jornal do Povo" fechado, deixa S�o Lu�s e passa a integrar, com ajuda do poeta Lago Burnett, a equipe do "Jornal do Brasil", na sucursal do Recife. This volume is a monograph of the 47 species of the Dulcamaroid clade of the large and diverse genus Solanum. Species in the group occur in North, Central and South America, and in Europe and Asia. The group is most species-rich in Peru and Brazil, and three of the component species, Solanum laxum of Brazil, Solanum seaforthianum of the Caribbean and and Solanum crispum of Chile are cultivated in many parts of the world. All species are illustrated and a distribution map of each is provided. All names are typified and nomenclatural and bibliographic details for all typifications presented. One new species from Ecuador is described. The monograph is the first complete taxonomic treatment of these species since the worldwide monograph of Solanum done by the French botanist Michel-Felix Dunal in 1852.
