O Discurso Jurídico nos Processos da Vara Maria da Penha: uma abordagem Estilístico-discursiva é um valioso estudo multidisciplinar em Direito e Estudos da Linguagem que tem como objetivo a análise do léxico e o discurso jurídico nas sentenças proferidas nos processos da Vara Maria da Penha de Londrina/PR. Tratando de um tema de crescente relevância, este livro analisa a linguagem como ação social, destacando a importância das escolhas lexicais na exploração dos elementos emotivos que entram na constituição do sentido das palavras. As vozes discursivas nas sentenças de processos que analisam a violência contra a mulher são dotadas de uma significativa carga afetiva que trazem à tona a discussão e o esclarecimento necessário acerca da violência doméstica sob a perspectiva da construção histórica e sob o ângulo da violação dos direitos fundamentais. A ciência jurídica encontra na linguagem a sua possibilidade de existir, utilizando o discurso como uma ponte entre a sociedade e o universo forense. Para que essa possibilidade de comunicação se efetive, a linguagem precisa estar ao alcance das partes e os recursos sintáticos, semânticos e lexicais devem ser os aliados do locutor a fim de efetivar a função social do Direito que é o alcance do acesso à justiça, em todas as suas esferas. Em qualquer discurso é possível encontrar essa tonalidade afetiva, mesmo que a situação relatada seja tida como referencial. Isso se encontra nos registros de ocorrências no mundo jurídico que envolvem violência doméstica quando o operador do direito, qualificando-se como neutro, deixa transparecer essa afetividade no interior de seus pronunciamentos, a despeito do rigor técnico das análises.

Harding critiques three epistemological approaches: feminist empiricism, which identifies only bad science as the problem; the feminist standpoint, which holds that women's social experience provides a unique starting point for discovering masculine bias in science; and feminist postmodernism, which disputes the most basic scientific assumptions.
