Este trabalho pretende abordar os mecanismos de defesa da mente que se mostra na configuração onde o Ego traz a capacidade de poder colocar o medo de maneira menor. Por isso, os mecanismos de defesa trazem uma falsa realidade com condições distantes da verdade, afastando-se da real situação. Nesse sentido, vem assim a capacidade de tentar afastar da consciência, os conteúdos indesejados. Assim, os mecanismos de defesa conseguem satisfazer, de modo parcial, os anseios do id. Portanto, o contentamento para o id, de maneira dividida, é satisfatória mesmo em pequena parcela, sendo melhor estando presente do que não existir. Pela mesma borda, entende-se que a diferenciação pelos mecanismos de defesa integra-se por duas bordas. A idoneidade dos mecanismos de defesa segue em justificar o amparo do eu, que vem a representação do ego. Em antagônico, os incumbidos de proteger a existência do narcisismo. No entanto, vem como prover uma reprodução incorreta e alterada na própria realidade. Deste modo, mostram-se vários tipos de mecanismos de defesa. Freud apontou diferentes mecanismos de defesa em marcos de sua obra. A função do Ego é intermediária, agrega o civilizar entre pulsões, com as reivindicações e intimidações do superego e informações da realidade vindo do externo. Ao inverso do id que é dividido em intenções independentes dentre si, o ego aparece único no patamar psíquico que certifica a identidade da pessoa.
