[POR] O motivo da donzela-guerreira ou da donzela que vai à guerra remonta a uma tradição de origens incertas, mas bastante fecunda a partir do século XVI na Península Ibérica e, posteriormente, em terras brasileiras, sobretudo, no romanceiro nordestino. O objetivo deste trabalho é apontar como Guimarães Rosa recupera e atualiza, em Grande sertão: veredas, o tema da donzela-guerreira, cujas raízes ibéricas encontram-se no romanceiro tradicional e na novela de cavalaria. [SPA] El tema de la doncella guerrera o de la doncella que va a la guerra pertenece a una tradición de orígenes inciertos, aunque resulta bastante fecundo a partir del siglo XVI en la Península Ibérica y posteriormente en tierras brasileñas, sobre todo en el romancero nordestino. El objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar cómo Guimarães Rosa recupera y actualiza, en Grande sertão: veredas, el tema de la doncella guerrera, cuyas raíces ibéricas se encuentran en el romancero tradicional y en las novelas de caballería. [ENG] The motif of the warrior maiden who goes to war dates back to a tradition of uncertain origins, but very fruitful from the sixteenth century on in the Iberian Peninsula and later on Brazilian lands, especially in the northeastern ballads . The objective of this work is to point out how Guimarães Rosa recovers and updates in Grande Sertão: Veredas the theme of the warrior maiden, whose origins in the Iberian Peninsula are the traditional ballads and the chivalric novel. Brazil's Northeast has traditionally been considered one of the country's poorest and most underdeveloped areas. In this impassioned work, the Brazilian historian Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Jr. investigates why Northeasterners are marginalized and stereotyped not only by inhabitants of other parts of Brazil but also by nordestinos themselves. His broader question though, is how "the Northeast" came into existence. Tracing the history of its invention, he finds that the idea of the Northeast was formed in the early twentieth century, when elites around Brazil became preoccupied with building a nation. Diverse phenomena—from drought policies to messianic movements, banditry to new regional political blocs—helped to consolidate this novel concept, the Northeast. Politicians, intellectuals, writers, and artists, often nordestinos, played key roles in making the region cohere as a space of common references and concerns. Ultimately, Albuqerque urges historians to question received concepts, such as regions and regionalism, to reveal their artifice and abandon static categories in favor of new, more granular understandings.
