Activist Citizenship In Southeast Europe written by Adam Fagan and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-28 with Political Science categories.
This volume explores recent episodes of progressive citizen-led mobilisation that have spread across Southeast Europe over the past decade. These protests have allowed citizens the opportunity to challenge prevailing notions of citizenship and provided the chance to redress what is perceived to be the unjust balance of power between elites and the masses. Each contribution debunks the myth of inherently passive post-socialist populations imitating West European forms of civil society activism. Rather, we gain a deeper sense of progressive and innovative forms of activist citizenship that display essentialist and particular forms of protest in combination with the antics of global protest networks. Through richly detailed case study research, the authors illustrate that whilst the catalysts for protest in Southeast Europe were invariably familiar (the expanse of private ownership into urban public spaces; the impact of austerity), the pathology of such protests were undoubtedly indigenous in origin, reflecting the particular post-socialist/post-authoritarian trajectories of these societies. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue in Europe-Asia Studies.

The book ‘Integrated Science to achieve Sustainable Development Goals’ debates how different fields of study can confront or mitigate problems or contribute together to the development of society. In brief, it is a book about the interdisciplinarity of knowledge surrounding the topics in society that are involved in the world development agenda. There is an increasing recognition of the importance of achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set in the UN agenda 2030. The book seeks to address the need for the integration of multidisciplinary fields of knowledge to achieve the seventeen SDGs. The book was developed with contributions from established and well-known scholars in different fields. It is interdisciplinary in nature and international in scope, intending to bring out a collection of state-of-the-art/cutting-edge knowledge on policies to achieve the 17 SDGs as well as a range of actionable recommendations for future developments in the different fields with the purpose of addressing the Agenda 2030. The integration of different disciplines (including sociology, health, education, psychology, business, economics, political science, environmental studies and urban planning) in a complex problem like societal development gives this book the challenge to be an authoritative tool with guidelines for the entire community and for policymakers as well. Each chapter presents the state of the art of a topic considered important to achieve SDGs. The authors explain how their field contributes to the achievement of one or more SDGs, including the main theories and examples of empirical evidence that may guide society in using such knowledge to contribute to societal impact.

The Oxford Handbook Of Intergenerational Connections written by Elizabeth F. Fideler and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025 with Family & Relationships categories.
The need to develop connections between members of different generations is being driven by a host of trends and challenges, including demographic shifts, workforce shortages and multigenerational teams, educational gaps, caregiving demands, youth and senior health and housing problems, economic insecurity, and rapid technological change. Many of these trends and challenges, already under way, were accelerated or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This handbook presents what is known about the spectrum of intergenerational initiatives in the United States and abroad--the very first to do so in reference book form. It addresses specifically what increases cooperation, interaction, or exchange between any two (or more) generations and how to foster the sharing of skills, knowledge, or experience between old and young. Comprising 30 chapters, each written by leading experts in their field, the handbook is organized around five sections: Cross-Generational Relationships, Older Adults Working with Younger People, Younger People Helping Older Adults, Global Perspectives on Intergenerational Relationships, and Recommendations for Strengthening and Sustaining the Intergenerational Movement.

International Examples Of Lean In Healthcare written by Elaine Mead and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-14 with Medical categories.
Typically entrenched and systemic, healthcare problems require the sort of comprehensive solutions that can only be addressed by a change in culture and a shift in thinking. Organizations around the world are using Lean to redesign care and improve processes in a way that achieves and sustains meaningful results for patients, staff, physicians, and health systems. This book demonstrates how honest appraisal, intelligent planning, and vigilant follow-up have led to dramatic improvements in a variety of healthcare settings across the world. It teaches us how innovative organizations can find sustainable solutions to seemingly intractable problems by following a path guided by Lean Thinking. Lean methods may not solve every healthcare problem, but as these cases prove, changing a culture rather than personnel results in more effective sustainable change. This multi-authored book provides expert descriptions of Lean methods and their application in healthcare, written by the people who developed and tested the methods in healthcare settings. Each chapter brings together a description of the technique or approach, with examples of application in practice from the author’s own practice. Authors use an engaging approach to their narrative, with examples from their personal experience or engagement being described to illustrate the practical application of theoretic approaches. In painting a picture of the environment in which these tools and techniques have been applied, readers will understand the transferability to their own workplace environment. This will be an opportunity to tell real stories of the application of Lean in healthcare and give readers the opportunity to learn from people from across the world, on subjects on which they are acknowledged topic experts, based on day-to-day Lean practice.
