Inhaltsangabe:Problemstellung: Betrachtet man die Anforderungen, die seit den letzten dreißig Jahren an oberstufengemäßen und abiturrelevanten Sportunterricht gestellt werden, könnte sich folgender Eindruck verdichten: Je länger die Diskussionen andauern, desto komplexer und anspruchsvoller erscheinen die Anforderungen, denen der Sportunterricht als gleichwertiges Fach im Kanon der Abiturfächer genügen muss. Sieht sich der Schulsport in den siebziger und achtziger Jahren schwerpunktmäßig einem Qualifikationsauftrag verpflichtet, der sich im Grundkurs auf die Vertiefung und Verbesserung konditioneller Fähigkeiten und technomotorischer Fertigkeiten in ausgewählten Sportarten konzentriert und im Leistungskurs vornehmlich die Vermittlung wissenschaftstheoretischen Fachwissens vorsieht, richtet sich in den neunziger Jahren der Blick zunehmend auf die erzieherischen Potentiale des Sports, um mit ihnen einen entsprechenden Anteil an der Trias der Ziele der gymnasialen Oberstufe leisten zu können. Analysiert man die Richtlinien und Lehrpläne Sport für Gymnasien des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen aus dem Jahre 1999 mit Blick auf die Umsetzung abiturrelevanten Sportunterrichts, verdichtet sich jedoch der Verdacht, allein Lösungen bzw. Umsetzungshilfen auf einer theoretischen Ebene beschrieben zu haben. Eine Anbindung an eine detaillierte Problemsituation aus dem Unterricht, auf welche die empfohlenen Absichten eine konkrete Qualitätsentwicklung darstellen, bleibt hingegen verborgen. Ebenfalls verborgen bleiben jedoch auch vergleichbare Normen und Kriterien der Abiturfähigkeit, welche den Status eines Abiturfaches legitimieren. Demnach könnte es als folgerichtig bezeichnet werden, dass mit der Einführung der neuen Richtlinien und Lehrpläne das Ministerium für Schule und Weiterbildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (MSWWF) quasi die Konsequenzen aus den fachdidaktischen Versäumnissen zieht und dem Sportunterricht der gymnasialen Oberstufe eine grundsätzliche Legitimation als viertes Prüfungsfach in der Abiturprüfung abspricht. Gleichzeitig wird dem Fach Sport jedoch die Rücknahme dieses Beschlusses in Aussicht gestellt, falls es innerhalb eines Schulversuchs gelinge, die Abiturfähigkeit des Faches nachzuweisen. Ausgehend von dem Schulversuch liegt die inhaltliche Schwerpunktsetzung der Arbeit darin, die Schieflage zwischen theoretischer Fachdiskussion und konkreter Unterrichtssituation auszugleichen. This volume presents a mix of translations of classical and modern papers from the German Didaktik tradition, newly prepared essays by German scholars and practitioners writing from within the tradition, and interpretive essays by U.S. scholars. It brings this tradition, which virtually dominated German curricular thought and teacher education until the 1960s when American curriculum theory entered Germany--and which is now experiencing a renaissance--to the English-speaking world, where it has been essentially unknown. Virtual exchange refers to education programmes in which constructive communication and interaction takes place between individuals or groups from different cultural backgrounds with the support of educators or facilitators. Evaluating and Upscaling Telecollaborative Teacher Education (EVALUATE, http://www.evaluateproject.eu/) was a European policy experimentation financed by Erasmus+ which studied the impact of a telecollaborative model of virtual exchange on student teachers. Between 2017-2018, the project consortium trained teacher trainers and organised virtual exchanges which involved over 1,000 student teachers at initial teacher education institutions. This entailed students interacting and collaborating with partner classes from other countries as an integral part of one of their courses. The research team then analysed the learning gains from these exchanges using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. They also worked with representatives from European ministries of education to understand how virtual exchange could be upscaled in teacher education across Europe. This publication presents the findings of the EVALUATE experimentation and its implications for the education of future teachers. The study found that engaging student teachers in structured online intercultural collaboration as part of their formal learning can contribute to the development of their digital-pedagogical, intercultural, and foreign language competences. It can also lead to innovation and international learning in the education of future teachers.
