La ayuda de los países del cono Sur a los nazis huidos a través de la ruta de las ratas, entre ellos Josef Mengele, junto con la captura de Adolf Eichmann por parte del Mossad, completan un complicado puzzle que acaba por tener sus implicaciones en el intento golpista en España de la denominada Operación Galaxia. Un joven español se encuentra por azar inmerso en esta conspiración en la España de los años setenta, y elude la muerte en un accidente provocado por el Batallón Vasco Español. La trayectoria de un hábil psicópata asesino, que durante varias décadas ha sido capaz de dar esquinazo a las fuerzas del orden, resulta especialmente relevante en las pesquisas policiales, hasta que por fin consiguen identificar al asesino, aunque no son capaces de encontrar las pruebas necesarias para inculparle. Se trata de una novela de ficción en la que hay muchos personajes reales que interactúan con los protagonistas creados para el desarrollo de la novela, que se inicia en 1938 y sigue su andadura hasta el año 2015, donde se producen los hechos reseñados. La época de la Transición española también resulta importante en el desarrollo de la trama y en las implicaciones que posteriormente tendrán los hechos acaecidos en torno a la Operación Galaxia.
