Relying on the concept of a shared history, this book argues that we can speak of a shared heritage that is common in terms of the basic grammar of heritage and articulated histories, but divided alongside the basic difference between colonizers and colonized. This problematic is also evident in contemporary uses of the past. The last decades were crucial to the emergence of new debates: subcultures, new identities, hidden voices and multicultural discourse as a kind of new hegemonic platform also involving concepts of heritage and/or memory. Thereby we can observe a proliferation of heritage agents, especially beyond the scope of the nation state. This volume gets beyond a container vision of heritage that seeks to construct a diachronical continuity in a given territory. Instead, authors point out the relational character of heritage focusing on transnational and translocal flows and interchanges of ideas, concepts, and practices, as well as on the creation of contact zones where the meaning of heritage is negotiated and contested. Exploring the relevance of the politics of heritage and the uses of memory in the consolidation of these nation states, as well as in the current disputes over resistances, hidden memories, undermined pasts, or the politics of nostalgia, this book seeks to seize the local/global dimensions around heritage.

This edited volume concerns childhood throughout South America after the 1990s, a period and territory of special complexity marked by the beginning—or intensification of—political neoliberalisation throughout the region. The decade also saw the ratification of the International Convention on Rights of the Child and post-dictatorial processes of political and social democratisation. The editors of this book explore the tension this juxtaposition has generated between logics and processes of dissimilar orientations. Within this framework, chapters investigate the neoliberalisation and institutionalisation of children’s rights and consider similarities and differences with respect to other regions. They also explore changes in schools and educational systems, as well as the phenomenon of the internal and external child and family migration.

El propósito central de este libro es reunir genealogías conceptuales en torno a la crítica de la colonialidad. Su intención no es estabilizar un canon ni enlistar los "términos imprescindibles" del debate, sino notar la impronta del pensamiento crítico sobre la persistencia de "lo colonial" en América Latina, es decir, pensar lo colonial no como acontecimiento, periodo o formación histórica discreta, sino como una condición estructurante del presente. Parte de una necesidad de campo: la elaboración de un léxico crítico, aunque siempre incompleto, con palabras clave que nos permitan mapear el pensamiento que hace una crítica al presente colonial latinoamericano. El volumen opera con al menos tres tipos de conceptos: primero, los que implican un trabajo de desmonte de los elementos que lo componen. Segundo, términos que recuperan debates conectivos que, si bien "tocan" las problemáticas de la colonialidad, pocas veces hacen parte del repertorio familiar y conocido de la retórica descolonial. Y, finalmente, ciertos términos familiares para la crítica a las modalidades coloniales de poder y sus contestaciones, pero que a nuestro juicio necesitaban de un trabajo de actualización o reposicionamiento crítico de su alcance sémico.

"cross the spectrum of political ideologies there is, in principle, widespread agreement that the state has a legitimate role in protecting children from harm. Even the Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman (1962), among the most ardent liberal supporters of the laissez faire philosophy, recognized this "paternalistic" function of government. At the same time, the traditional view of children, that they are the property of the father (pater) or the parents, is under pressure (Zelizer, 1994; James & Prout, 1997; Archard 2004). Societies are at an intersection when it comes to how children are treated and how their rights are respected, which creates tensions in the traditional relationship between the family and the state. Children are a focus of government responsibility under certain state-defined norms relating to harm and need. And parents are sometimes constrained by the state from exercising their (familial or property) rights under state-defined criteria of harm and need"--

Se consideran, así, los discursos de profesionales que registran las entrevistas efectuadas a jóvenes imputados de delitos en centros socio-educativos de reclusión; los fundamentos de los cursos de español para migrantes senegaleses, dictados durante la gestión del PRO, sus alcances e ideologemas dominantes; el diseño conversacional que orienta el diálogo entre el gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, representado por un robot, y la ciudadanía; y las variaciones en las fórmulas de tratamiento vos/tú/usted en el discurso académico en la variedad rioplantense de español. En segundo lugar, el libro atiende a los discursos de la política. A obra analisa o surgimento e a inserção do movimento de familiares de mortos e desaparecidos políticos nos debates públicos sobre a ditadura de 1964 a 1985 no Brasil, em cujo cerne estão a identificação da violência passada, a denúncia da injustiça e a nomeação de direitos. Ao reconstituir a trajetória desse movimento, os relatos das famílias deixam entrever o papel central que o sofrimento assume nesse processo, sendo a base para a construção de identidades e formas de sociabilidade. Revelam, ainda, que a expressão pública de testemunhos, demandas e denúncias passam a ser reconhecidas como forma de coletivizar experiências e a constituir os mortos e desaparecidos como categoria, propiciando que seus familiares se vejam e sejam vistos como uma comunidade política e moral que se volta para a busca de responsabilidades e direitos.

Nos vários temas abordados temos oportunidade de perceber algo que há tempos a sociologia e a antropologia da moral têm se esforçado em mostrar: a moral está por toda parte. Nos artigos que compõem as partes 1 e 2 encontramos discussões teóricas de pesquisadores e pesquisadoras que vêm protagonizando o debate intelectual sobre os contornos da moral como tema privilegiado nas ciências sociais. Sempre ancorados em investigações e reflexões sobre a realidade social, alguns textos apresentam discussões de ordem epistemológica, ontológica e até mesmo ética, enquanto outros mostram como, tomando a moral como ponto de partida, é possível adentrar de forma original temas consolidados da teoria social.
