En 1995 apareció en esta misma editorial las Obras completas de Beato de Liébana, en versión bilingüe latino-española, acompañadas de estudios introductorios y de notas. Era la primera vez que se publicaba en conjunto la totalidad de dichas obras, dos de las cuales no habían sido hasta entonces traducidas. Pero con la publicación de ese libro entendíamos que no se había cumplido la misión de presentar al público culto, aunque no necesariamente especializado, todos los documentos históricos relativos a Beato de Liébana, importante figura en la historia del pensamiento y las letras hispanas en la Alta Edad Media. Quedaban por publicar los documentos históricos, principalmente cartas, referentes a la llamada «polémica adopcionista», en la que Beato se había visto envuelto. En ellas se alude con frecuencia directamente a la persona del escritor cántabro. Igualmente pensábamos que sería conveniente presentar otros estudios complementarios sobre las fuentes en que se basan los textos beatianos, así como tocar ciertos temas, menos estudiados, sobre las ilustraciones del Comentario al Apocalipsis. Y este es el resultado del tomo II que, completa las Obras de Beato de Liébana, aportando una amplia documentación literaria en edición bilingüe y nuevos estudios que, sin duda, ayudarán a comprender y profundizar más en el sentido e importancia de la monumental obra de Beato.
