Prezentowana praca koncentruje się na problemach biopsychospołecznych dzieci przewlekle chorych somatycznie, a zwłaszcza na tym, jak postrzegają one siebie. Należy nadmienić, że nie prowadzono zbyt wielu badań w tym zakresie. Jest to praca interdyscyplinarna, łącząca wiedzę z zakresu psychologii osobowości, psychologii rozwojowej, psychologii twórczości, psychologii zdrowia i pedagogiki specjalnej. Zagadnienia poruszane w ramach tych dziedzin dają szerszy obraz badanego problemu oraz pozwalają spojrzeć na dzieci chore somatycznie w sposób całościowy Problematyka recenzowanej monografii jest rozległa i można ją odnieść do wielu dyscyplin naukowych, począwszy od pedagogiki specjalnej i jej dziedziny szczegółowej, którą jest pedagogika lecznicza, poprzez psychologię rozwojową, osobowości i twórczości, do niezmiernie istotnej dyscypliny, jaką stanowi psychologia zdrowia, zaś tematem, a raczej podmiotem głównym tej pracy jest formowanie osobowości dziecka przewlekle chorego z uwzględnieniem kształtowania - w procesach rozwoju, wychowania i kształcenia - obrazu własnej osoby oraz samowiedzy i samooceny; w tle pojawia się również niełatwa problematyka samoświadomości. Mimo że Autorka podjęła niezmiernie trudne, złożone kwestie kształtowania obrazu własnej osoby dzieci chronicznie chorych, to jednak przystępny sposób narracji sprawia, iż monografię tę można z pełnym przekonaniem polecić przede wszystkim psychologom zajmującym się rozwojem dziecka i jego twórczością. Praca ta może być także użyteczna dla studentów psychologii oraz pedagogiki specjalnej i leczniczej, a nade wszystko dla rodziców i opiekunów, którzy troszczą się i wspierają dzieci z przewlekłą chorobą. Z recenzji prof. drą hab. Adama Alfreda Zycha Książka nader istotna, porusza bowiem tematy będące rzadko w kręgu zainteresowań naukowców. To materia nadzwyczaj wrażliwa i trudna. The book analyses issues associated with the contemporary and memory in the Polish-German borderlands – a complex, multidimensional cultural and geographic area. The first section of the book, which focuses on contemporary issues, is divided into three parts: namely, a theoretical body, records of conversations with the inhabitants of the borderlands who are engaged in social activities, and records of workshops and conversations that brought together teenage inhabitants of the borderlands. Close cooperation with the inhabitants of two borderland towns resulted in several interesting perspectives on the borderlands, which are seen as a physical space, as well as a mental, intimate, close, and sometimes frustrating space subject to micro- and macro-scale transformations. In this book, the borderlands are viewed from these two perspectives. The micro-scale, is marked out by the individual experience of the inhabitants of the borderlands, and the macro-scale by the institutional framework established for the purpose of constructing an integrated community on the border.
