Researchers and practitioners in organizational settings have recently been using this theory as an explanatory model to focus on the roles and identities that "social actors" utilize in interpersonal situations. The theory of impression management provides a framework for the techniques and strategies people use in order to look good as well as the excuses and justifications they employ to avoid looking bad.

This volume explores the foundations of trust, and whether social and political trust have common roots. Contributions by noted scholars examine how we measure trust, the cultural and social psychological roots of trust, the foundations of political trust, and how trust concerns the law, the economy, elections, international relations, corruption, and cooperation, among myriad societal factors. The rich assortment of essays on these themes addresses questions such as: How does national identity shape trust, and how does trust form in developing countries and in new democracies? Are minority groups less trusting than the dominant group in a society? Do immigrants adapt to the trust levels of their host countries? Does group interaction build trust? Does the welfare state promote trust and, in turn, does trust lead to greater well-being and to better health outcomes? The Oxford Handbook of Social and Political Trust considers these and other questions of critical importance for current scholarly investigations of trust.

El Sindicato Nos Tiene Con Vida Aqu written by Edwin Eloy Aguilar and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Costa Rica categories.

"This dissertation examines the political reality of urban informal workers in Costa Rica. Using as its data source a survey of 504 informal sector workers sampled in six different occupations in Limon and San José, the author analyzes a variety of variables relevant to the political behavior of informal sector workers. Included in the analysis are discussions of: 1) the socio-economic conditions of informal sector workers, 2) the work histories of informal sector workers, 3) the political attitudes of informal sector workers, 4) the organizational characteristics along occupational lines of informal sector workers, and 5) the determinants of the political behavior of informal sector workers. Based on the analysis of the survey data the author finds that occupational organization is an important predictive variable when analyzing three different kinds of political behaviors (voting, campaigning, and protesting...) Additionally, levels of diffuse support and political efficacy are shown to be important predictors of some of the political behaviors. The author concludes that were Latin American states to foment the creation of occupational organizations among the urban informal sector, the consequences for sustained democratic rule might be quite positive. Informal workers who are members of occupational organizations have higher levels of diffuse support and political efficacy, and seem inclined to support the policies of the state in times of difficulty than are non-members of occupational organizations."--Pages iii-iv.
