Design Of Hydroelectric Power Plants Step By Step written by Geraldo Magela Pereira and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-20 with Science categories.

The design of a hydroelectric plant, along with an installation of transformation of potential energy of water into electricity, is an activity that is not standardized. Each new project is an interesting engineering challenge, and teams need to work in different conditions of each site, integrated to design a functional, economical and environmentally sustainable project. The development of a project, here understood as the plant itself, the reservoir, the maneuver substation and the associated transmission line, is a multidisciplinary activity that encompasses areas of civil engineering, geology, mechanical and electrical engineering, environmental engineering, economic engineering, construction and assembly, and the engineering of operation and maintenance of civil works and electromechanical equipment. The book is organized to facilitate the performance of professional life of the new generations of engineers who will join the Electric Sector, or in other sectors that demand the knowledge regarding hydraulic structures. The book is a simple manual providing the practical step-by-step procedure for designing hydroelectric plants, including legislation, with a general view of the project.

Forest Science written by Elias Costa de Souza and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-24 with Science categories.

This book highlights the sustainability aspects of products and processes in forest science. The forest products sector supplies raw materials to several industrial sectors worldwide. These products can be classified as timber or non-timber products. Wood products are those that originate from the woody fraction and can include pulp, charcoal, firewood, and others. The non-timber products, on the other hand, have the products extracted from the different parts of the tree, such as bark, leaves, fruits, resins, oils, tannins, or even products extracted from non-woody biomass, such as palm heart or carnauba, among others. There are new studies and new products developed from forests worldwide each day. However, studies that evaluate the sustainability of these products and the processes related to their production are not so common. It is essential to highlight the sustainability aspects of these activities and the products obtained from them; such that steps can be taken to make the processes eco-friendly. Allied to ecological sustainability studies that evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of such activities arise. With this book, the authors through the approach of other products and processes of forest science, present the practical vision of aligning production with sustainability in an economically viable way. The book analyses different products and processes, ranging from technological production of engineered wood products to handcrafted resins with a high commercial appeal. With the expertise of different authors, who are researchers in various specific areas of forest sciences, this book helps expand research and presents new insights, assisting industry decision-makers and researchers working in the areas forest sciences.

Design For Inclusivity written by Magda Mostafa and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-09 with Architecture categories.

The book provides new perspectives from leading experts examining the role of architects and urbanists in designing for inclusivity in our built environment. By focusing on themes of gender, race and ethnicity, ability, neurodiversity, age, poverty and socio-economy and the non-human, the book tackles the complex challenges that designers and scholars encounter and need to address in their works. The volume offers a diverse compilation of peer-reviewed papers related to architecture for inclusivity in various different formats, ranging from visual essays, argumentative papers and scholastic texts. It presents the notion of "availability", a concept which works to challenge the "othering" inherent in notions of inclusion and accessibility. In its introduction it presents a critical discourse around the challenges and potentials lying in the design for availability targeted towards a systemic change of our societies. The book is part of a series of six volumes that explore the agency of the built environment in relation to the SDGs through new research conducted by leading researchers. The series is led by editors Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen and Martin Tamke in collaboration with the theme editors: - Design for Climate Adaptation: Billie Faircloth and Maibritt Pedersen Zari - Design for Rethinking Resources: Carlo Ratti and Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen (Eds.) - Design for Resilient Communities: Anna Rubbo and Juan Du (Eds.) - Design for Health: Arif Hasan and Christian Benimana (Eds.) - Design for Inclusivity: Magda Mostafa and Ruth Baumeister (Eds.) - Design for Partnerships for Change: Sandi Hilal and Merve Bedir (Eds.)

Copyright And Multimedia written by Julian Rodriguez Pardo and has been published by Kluwer Law International B.V. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-01-01 with Law categories.

Technology has affected a wide range of issues in our personal and professional lives. And in doing so it has opened the door for new legal questions, especially with regard to intellectual property and, more specifically, copyright. New legal questions have arisen with respect to the authorship of web pages, databases, computer programs, and, in general, multimedia work. Is this technology internationally protected? Can internet piracy be considered piracy? To whom does the copyright belong when more than one author exists? When is it necessary to resort to technical protection devices? By examining international laws, such as the WIPO treaties and EU law, this book offers a clear answer to these questions while focusing on how copyright does or does not protect new technology. It also examines alternative ways of protecting technologies that present the real possibility of appealing to patent and trademark law as well as an overview of the multimedia concept and the origins of copyright. This book's simple structure helps the reader to understand how to utilize current laws to protect one's work and offers an interesting and informative analysis of the subject.
