Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird anhand von verschiedenen Untertitelungsrichtlinien und einem deutschem Beispielfilm untersucht, wie für Hörgeschädigte untertitelt wird. Die Situation für Hörgeschädigte in Bezug auf Tonsubstitution im Fernsehen ist in Deutschland noch immer sehr schwierig. Besonders Dolmetschereinblendungen werden von vielen hörenden Zuschauern als störend empfunden und von den Sendern nur unzureichend eingesetzt. Auch Untertitel sind in einem Synchronisationsland wie Deutschland als unbequem und unnötig verrufen, sodass es schwierig ist, in der Öffentlichkeit eine diesbezügliche Bewusstseinsveränderung herbeizuführen. Das Inkrafttreten des Bundesbehindertengleichstellungsgesetzes am 1. Mai 2002 war ein wichtiger Schritt in diese Richtung. Behindertenverbände können nun Zielvereinbarungen mit Firmen treffen, um Barrierefreiheit herzustellen und so haben einige private Fernsehsender damit begonnen, zu einigen ihrer Sendungen Untertitel für Hörgeschädigte anzubieten. Es kann nach dem Gesetz jedoch keine Firma zu einer Zielvereinbarung gezwungen werden, sodass die Verbände allein durch ihre Überzeugungsarbeit einen Erfolg erzielen können. Neben dem Fernsehen ist auch die DVD zu einem wichtigen Medium für Hörgeschädigte geworden. Film-DVDs enthalten zunehmend mehr Bonusmaterial, z. B. Untertitel in verschiedenen Sprachen sowie speziell auf die Zielgruppe der Hörgeschädigten ausgerichtete Untertitel. Als MGM Home Entertainment Deutschland 2004 in einer Pressemitteilung ankündigte, zukünftig aus Kostengründen keine Untertitel mehr auf ihren DVDs anbieten zu wollen, kam es seitens verschiedener Verbände zu heftigen Protesten und eine Postkartenaktion wurde ins Leben gerufen. Schließlich teilte die MGM mit, sie werde 2005 noch mehr als bisher DVDs speziell mit Untertiteln für Hörgeschädigte ausstatten, da man sich bewusst geworden sei, wie wichtig dieses Medium für diese Zielgruppe ist. Dieses Beispiel zeigt, wie wenig die Öffentlichkeit über die Belange von Hörgeschädigten weiß und lässt vermuten, dass durch konstruktive Aufklärung einiges in den Köpfen der Menschen bewirkt werden kann. Problemstellung: Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit soll eine Einführung in die Thematik der Untertitelung für Hörgeschädigte darstellen.
