Il poeta futurista Alberto Vianello non ha voluto lasciare a nessuno la raccolta delle sue poesie, che, fino a qualche tempo fa, sembravano irrimediabilmente disperse, forse perché deluso dalla scarsa considerazione riservatagli da alcuni critici letterari. E’ solo grazie alla tenacia dei figli Tunni, Leonardo e, in particolare, Edoardo, il cantante più “futurista” del firmamento musicale italiano, che, con grande dedizione ed infinito amore, hanno intrapreso un’accurata ricerca dell’opera del loro padre, è finalmente possibile la pubblicazione, per la prima volta, di una vasta rassegna delle sue poesie, la più completa oggi esistente, composta da ben 38 liriche. La ricerca ha coinvolto i discendenti dei suoi migliori amici e i suoi parenti veneziani, che fortunatamente ne conservavano alcune, ed è stata man mano completata attraverso il ritrovamento di piccoli appunti, quasi indecifrabili per la piccolissima grafia che era solito usare, nascosti fra i suoi documenti. Ma anche dalle pagine di vecchi libri rimasti ad Edoardo sono riemersi i suoi versi, e da alcuni manoscritti conservati presso la Biblioteca del Club Alpino Italiano di Roma, che porta il suo nome. Con questa pubblicazione vogliamo rendere onore ad uno dei più apprezzati poeti futuristi, il preferito da Marinetti, ingiustamente ignorato dalla “Kultura” italiana del dopoguerra e dai suoi pregiudizi.

What is the cultural value of travel writing today? How is the genre affected by instant communication and digital technologies? This volume provides answers to these questions through adopting a transmedial perspective by comparing printed travel books and travel blogs. Notably, it explores how different editorial and medial choices impact on the cultural practices of travelling and writing. Methodologically, an ethnography is proposed via the discussion of a number of original interviews (collected over three years) with contemporary travel authors and bloggers, who journeyed around (and wrote about) China. These writers are from both the West (the UK, the USA, Italy, France, New Zealand) and China (Hong Kong and the Mainland). As such, the volume not only deconstructs the English-centredness and ethnocentrism that often affect travel writing as a genre, as well as many studies on it, but it also renews the academic debate on the politics behind the genre, connecting the texts with their spheres of production and reception. The study shows the interdependence between medial and literary features, on the one hand, and the ways of journeying and writing about the experience, which largely depend upon the biography of each writer, on the other.
