TIPS - A Guidebook for Teaching Excellence in ESL - is a necessary tool for teaching and learning English as a Second Language. The book is a sampler containing useful information regarding the history of the English language, the correlation between language and culture, and provides a solid framework with which to create meaningful contexts in the teaching and learning of correct grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and literature at various levels of English proficiency. The major sections of the book start with TIPS and practical information addressed to the ESL teachers (and students), and the main purpose is to help instructors deliver interesting, productive, and effective content in the classroom. The author reveals the need for teachers to elevate the students’ motivation by positioning the learning as a discovery process. They become more and more eager to find out about the how’s and why’s of the development of the language. The book collects practical information on a variety of topics and the research behind them in an easy-to-use format.

(Lloyd) Logan Pearsall Smith (1865-1946) was an American essayist and critic, and a notable writer on historical semantics. Logan attended Haverford College and Balliol College, Oxford. He was known for his aphorisms and epigrams, but is now probably most remembered for his autobiography Unforgotten Years (1938). Smith was much influenced by Walter Pater. His followers included Robert Gathorne-Hardy, Desmond MacCarthy, John Russell, R. C. Trevelyan, and Hugh Trevor- Roper. He was, in part, the basis for the character of Nick Greene / Sir Nicholas Greene in Virginia Woolf's Orlando. His other works include: The Youth of Parnassus, and Other Stories (1895), The Life and Letters of Sir Henry Wotton (2 volumes) (1907), Sonnets (1908), Songs and Sonnets (1909), The English Language (1912), A Treasury of English Prose (editor) (1919), Stories From the Old Testament (1920), More Trivia (1921) English Idioms (1923), Four Words: Romantic, Originality, Creative, Genius (1924), Words and Idioms (1925), The Prospects of Literature (1927), Needed Words (1928), A Treasury of English Aphorisms (edited) (1928), Robert Bridges: Recollections (1931), On Reading Shakespeare (1933), Fine Writing (1936) and Reperusals and Re-Collections (1937).

Playing Shakespeare written by John Barton and has been published by A&C Black this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-01-01 with Performing Arts categories.

John Barton is Advisory Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company and has directed some of the greatest Shakespeare productions of our time. His book, Playing Shakespeare, is a transcript of his televised workshops with some of our finest Shakespearean actors: Peggy Ashcroft, Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Ben Kingsley, Patrick Stewart and David Suchet. This new edition contains a DVD with 80 minutes of video featuring John Barton in conversation with Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Jane Lapotaire discussing changes in approaches to Shakespeare's text since the book first published. This edition also features a foreword by Michael Boyd. This is a highly readable approach to understanding Shakespeare's text and unlocking the hidden stage directions and actors clues that reside in his verse. As Barton explains, "when an actor becomes aware of them they will find Shakespeare himself starts to direct them."
