What happens when an average person takes up the practice of yoga and begins to experience the siddhis - the paranormal abilities of yogi legend? These are true stories of a modern western yogi's light-hearted personal journey into the realms of magic and mysticism. The path to cosmic consciousness sometimes winds through a maze of extraordinary phenomena: mischievous ghosts, astral projection, devas and geniis, materialization, psychokinesis, astrology and remote viewing, to name a few. Guided by a recalcitrant guru and driven by his own insatiable curiosity, adjusting to living with siddhis results in some eye-opening and often humorous moments.

Merriam Press Memoir. Once Upon a Time There Was a War is a kaleidoscope of events. It starts with World War II seen through the eyes of a child. The author was only nine years old when the war started and he writes about his memories of horrible events like hangings and executions of innocent people; senseless killings that brought misery to so many lives. But, being only a child, he also had times of fun and play. The reality of war, however, was ever-present. Despite those dark times, Les remained an optimist; he had his dreams of becoming an animator and of going to Hollywood. He didn't know how, but he was sure that someday he would reach his goal. Les reached his goal and had a long career working for studios in Poland, as well as Disney and Hanna-Barbera in the U.S., and others. Those fascinating stories, and many more, are also in this memoir.

It is a true story of a Love yogi named Premyogi vajra, in his own words or in the name of Love yogi. Around 25 years ago, there existed a teen named Premyogi vajra, in the deep Himalaya. His grandfather, the same tantric-spiritual old man was a renowned priest in the nearby localities. Boy with some spiritual capabilities since his childhood was studying science in English medium. That was very tough for him for he had come from a Hindi medium school and so on. He had got glimpse enlightenment in sleep around quarter of a century ago. Further he got his Kundalini awakened at the end of following discussion in original(partially edited; This has been done only to preserve the original essence, thus the subtle power of the real time discussion somewhat preserved)at brilliano kundalini online forum, which ran throughout the years 2016-18(26-10-2016 to 08-05-2018)for roughly one and half year. Therefore, this discussion may have subtle power hidden inside it. Paragraphs have been written downward in order of subsequent dates or times. Each paragraph denotes writing on a single sitting. Discussion from other participants have been omitted out to avoid confusion. This book is not less than a boon for kundalini-seekers and Yoga-enthusiasts. It demystifies and clarifies the Patanjali-yogsutras in one of the best ways. This book is full of real-time practical points, which were experienced by Premyogi vajra during his meditation. There is nothing as mere theoretical in this book. The description of Tantra and Kundalini is clear, simple, true, natural, practical and scientific as described by Premayogi Vajra. Such description is not visible anywhere else. We hope that readers will highly enjoy this book.

This is a Kriya Yoga book intended to be read and practised by everyone, with/without initiation. Every word uttered by a Yogi has a special meaning that is totally unintelligible to even the highly intellectual people. This book is written in such a way that everyone can follow it up while trading the path of Kriya. People think that they are very intelligent, but if they try to understand very seriously, they realize perfectly that nothing is happening according to their intellect. Only those whose breath is not blowing in the left or right nostril are intelligent in this world. When breathing is faster, then in one day and one night respiration can flow up to 113,680 times. Normally during the same time, the figure is 21,600 times. During a day and night, if respiration is faster than usual, the breath can flow in and out 113,680 times. Normally, in the course of a day and night, there are 21,600 breaths. This figure is reduced by Kriya practice to 2,000 times. So, breathing 1,000 times in the day and 1,000 times in the night, in a normal course, provides greater Tranquility to a Yogi. One of his breaths takes about 44 seconds. Such a Yogi is matured in Kriya practice. Thoughts are inseparably related to breathing. So, when the number of breaths is reduced, thoughts are reduced proportionately. Eventually, with the tranquilization of breath, thoughts are dissolved. Thereby, the seeker can attain the After-effect-poise of Kriya, or eternal Tranquility, which is Amrita, nectar proper.

The Goddess Pose written by Michelle Goldberg and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-09 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

When the woman who would become Indra Devi was born in Russia in 1899, yoga was virtually unknown outside of India. By the time of her death, in 2002, it was being practiced everywhere, from Brooklyn to Berlin to Ulaanbaatar. In The Goddess Pose, New York Times best-selling author Michelle Goldberg traces the life of the incredible woman who brought yoga to the West and in so doing paints a sweeping picture of the twentieth century. Born into the minor aristocracy (as Eugenia Peterson), Devi grew up in the midst of one of the most turbulent times in human history. Forced to flee the Russian Revolution as a teenager, she joined a famous Berlin cabaret troupe, dove into the vibrant prewar spiritualist movement, and, at a time when it was nearly unthinkable for a young European woman to travel alone, followed the charismatic Theosophical leader Jiddu Krishnamurti to India. Once on the subcontinent, she performed in Indian silent cinema and hobnobbed with the leaders of the independence movement. But her greatest coup was convincing a recalcitrant master yogi to train her in the secrets of his art. Devi would go on to share what she learned with people around the world, teaching in Shanghai during World War II, then in Hollywood, where her students included Gloria Swanson and Greta Garbo. She ran a yoga school in Mexico during the height of the counterculture, served as spiritual adviser to the colonel who tried to overthrow Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega, and, in her eighties, moved to Buenos Aires at the invitation of a besotted rock star. Everywhere she went, Indra Devi evangelized for yoga, ushering in a global craze that continues unabated. Written with vivid clarity, The Goddess Pose brings her remarkable story as an actress, yogi, and globetrotting adventuress to life.

Sinister Yogis written by David Gordon White and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-15 with Religion categories.

Since the 1960s, yoga has become a billion-dollar industry in the West, attracting housewives and hipsters, New Agers and the old-aged. But our modern conception of yoga derives much from nineteenth-century European spirituality, and the true story of yoga’s origins in South Asia is far richer, stranger, and more entertaining than most of us realize. To uncover this history, David Gordon White focuses on yoga’s practitioners. Combing through millennia of South Asia’s vast and diverse literature, he discovers that yogis are usually portrayed as wonder-workers or sorcerers who use their dangerous supernatural abilities—which can include raising the dead, possession, and levitation—to acquire power, wealth, and sexual gratification. As White shows, even those yogis who aren’t downright villainous bear little resemblance to Western assumptions about them. At turns rollicking and sophisticated, Sinister Yogis tears down the image of yogis as detached, contemplative teachers, finally placing them in their proper context.
