Some have said that the word scam is too strong for a book that argues against the church's most sacred cow, but scam is exactly the right word because tithing has been put forth as a duty that will earn that which Christ suffered and died to freely give us. Not only is it wrong to suggest that tithing will do what Christ died to do, such as open heaven or make one right with God, but such teaching is an insult to His sacrifice and in reality, an enemy to the Cross even as circumcision was in the early church.
