Quelli di ‘reputazione’, da un lato, e di ‘impatto reputazionale della sanzione penale’, dall’altro (ovvero i due poli su cui il presente lavoro intende concentrarsi, esplorando le reciproche relazioni e interazioni, attuali o potenziali), sono concetti relativamente recenti – quanto meno nella loro autonoma individuazione e valorizzazione giuridica – se comparati con quello, affine ma distinto e oggi da molti considerato (almeno nelle nostre società occidentali) obsoleto e dunque insignificante, di ‘onore’. Eppure, come si cercherà di dimostrare nelle pagine seguenti, questi temi non possono essere adeguatamente affrontati e inquadrati se non nel confronto con il loro problematico, complesso e a tratti scomodo ‘antenato’: l’onore, appunto, i cui “fantasmi”, come è stato ben osservato, “continuano a inseguirci”. Ciò non solo perché l’onore in senso ‘tradizionale’, con i suoi atavici tratti gerarchici, identitari e ‘gruppali’ (su cui ci si soffermerà in modo particolare in questa prima parte del volume) continua a essere una componente fondamentale di altre culture, con cui la globalizzazione e i movimenti migratori ci portano a sempre più stretto contatto . Ma anche perché non sembra possibile pervenire a un’adeguata comprensione, e distinzione, dei suoi – più moderni e ‘presentabili’ – affini semantici, senza un confronto puntuale e analitico con le peculiarità di questa realtà tanto risalente, quanto complessa e proteiforme.
