From thoughts and words arranged on a sheet of paper, these words pushed with feelings, and overlaid in emotions. Actions and reactions, life takes on a new direction. Moments addressed in time. The gourmet of words to feed on. More thoughts, more dreams. The passing of the older generation and lacing words together to draw understanding. Reaching inward to draw on the blackness of my mind to share the gourmet of words to feed on. Time served in America. The truths and the untruths. And I am still writing backward. To wonder where I am from. How clear is it to see where you are going? And tomorrow will not be here until twelve o'clock. All the engagement between the pen and paper, black ink placed upon white sheets of paper, and at times thinking like Thomas Darwin, black crows and white swans placed in the same pond. The effects of matching the right colors, that we have the perfect room. And yet those are times when questions are asked but the answers never came. When did a black man realize that he was a black man, seeing things in a different way, but looking at the same thing? History with all its curves and turns, the past, the present, and the future. I find myself locked with in these words and feelings and covered in emotions. And at the same time the clear color of tears are the same tears, for happiness or sadness.

The Opposite Of Letting The Mind Wander written by Keith Waldrop and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Poetry categories.

Poetry. " All of Waldrop's work evokes the conflict between activity and passivity, doing and being, poetry as discovery and poetry as invention. In fact, reading Waldrop gives the reader two impressions, often in rapid succession: that of participating in a desperate search for a lost and possibly non-existent item; and that of sitting still, trying to be so quiet a tiny voice will reach one from a distance. The energy in these poems goes into the effort of thought, of meditation, not into the lines. Like Wallace Stevens in his early long poems (and like any phenomenologist) Waldrop strips perceptions of accretions so that they can be seen in their first light, without falsification. The effect is in both cases a poem that is smooth flowing on the surface but dense with effort and energy underneath" - Janet McCann, Parnassus: Poetry in Review.

If you want to be as successful as Jack Welch, Larry Bossidy, or Michael Dell, read their autobiographical advice books, right? Wrong, says Roger Martin in The Opposable Mind. Though following best practice can help in some ways, it also poses a danger: By emulating what a great leader did in a particular situation, you'll likely be terribly disappointed with your own results. Why? Your situation is different. Instead of focusing on what exceptional leaders do, we need to understand and emulate how they think. Successful businesspeople engage in what Martin calls integrative thinking creatively resolving the tension in opposing models by forming entirely new and superior ones. Drawing on stories of leaders as diverse as AG Lafley of Procter & Gamble, Meg Whitman of eBay, Victoria Hale of the Institute for One World Health, and Nandan Nilekani of Infosys, Martin shows how integrative thinkers are relentlessly diagnosing and synthesizing by asking probing questions including: What are the causal relationships at work here? and What are the implied trade-offs? Martin also presents a model for strengthening your integrative thinking skills by drawing on different kinds of knowledge including conceptual and experiential knowledge. Integrative thinking can be learned, and The Opposable Mind helps you master this vital skill.

This collection of poetry is a story of my life and of changes that have contributed toward what I am today. The poetry ranges from love poems, spiritual aspirations, gothic and abstract pieces, and narratives. It is a collection of how an autistic sees the world, as if looking out the window at the world yet never able to join. This book contains controversial subjects and profanity, as censorship of language goes against free expression. This book contains a variety of poems and short stories that has influenced my life as well as shows the particular torment a person living with PSTD has. I wanted to show the world what looking at the world through my lenses is like, and I am sure there are countless others who prefer a realistic approach as opposed to ignoring the hardships this world thrusts on people. A unique perspective of life. I also hope to make aware to people the dangers of religion and how religion can be controlling. There is a section of poetry from my Christian days that I have kept for the sake of art. These are from experiences in living in fear of Christian brimstone preaching. A lot of that fear underlies my earlier work as well as a deep, relenting anger at the oppressor that I feared, which was religion. Regardless, I would love to discuss the role of religion in peoples lives and determine how we can live in a society that practices spirituality as opposed to strict rules that are open to interpretation. Traditions are something I have come to hate, a disussion of which can be found in the latter portion of the book. Finally, it is my hope that my creative writing might inspire further creativity and expression of personal experience. I wish to share my art and have an intellectual experience that opens a persons mind to a bigger universe than they have perceived.

What It Means To Be Avant Garde written by David Antin and has been published by New Directions Publishing Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Poetry categories.

what it means to be avant-garde is David Antin's third collection of "talk poems" published by New Directions. As in his earlier talking at the boundaries (1976), and tuning (winner of the 1984 PEN/Los Angeles Literary Award for Poetry), Antin's brilliant improvised disquisitions at once challenge readers' expectations even as they instruct and entertain. A poet, performance artist, art critic, and professor of visual arts, Antin, since his college days in New York in the '50s, has been at the cutting edge of the avant-garde. The avant-garde? Yes, if by this is meant not an image of fashion but the place where art and life intersect, imparting to both a greater urgency - if is meant the place where experience and knowledge find their deepest expression, where the idea of a universal language can find shape, where the price of art is itself, where the fringe is the very center of existence.

Art is a small extension of ourselves that we choose to put out into the world. This is a collection of poems meant to be read from top to bottom, and then bottom to top accompanied by an opposing idea or feeling. This was done in hopes that the reader will also take time to reflect, and attempt to do the same for themselves.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning was one of the most prominent English poets of the Victorian era. In the 1830s Elizabeth's cousin John Kenyon introduced her to prominent literary figures of the day such as William Wordsworth, Mary Russell Mitford, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Alfred Tennyson and Thomas Carlyle. Her first adult collection, The Seraphim and Other Poems, was published in 1838. During this time she contracted a disease, possibly tuberculosis, which weakened her further. Living at Wimpole Street, in London, she wrote prolifically between 1841 and 1844, producing poetry, translation and prose. She campaigned for the abolition of slavery and her work helped influence reform in the child labour legislation. Her prolific output made her a rival to Tennyson as a candidate for poet laureate on the death of Wordsworth. Barrett Browning was widely popular in the U.K. and America during her lifetime. American poet Edgar Allan Poe was inspired by her poem Lady Geraldine's Courtship and specifically borrowed the poem's meter for his poem The Raven. Poe had reviewed Barrett Browning's work in the January 1845 issue of the Broadway Journal and said that "her poetic inspiration is the highest - we can conceive of nothing more august. Her sense of Art is pure in itself." In return, she praised The Raven and Poe dedicated his 1845 collection The Raven and Other Poems to her, referring to her as "the noblest of her sex." Her poetry greatly influenced Emily Dickinson, who admired her as a woman of achievement. Her popularity in the United States and Britain was further advanced by her stands against social injustice, including slavery in the United States, injustice toward Italian citizens by foreign rulers, and child labour.

Flawed Thoughts & Imperfect Perspectives is a book intended to poetically express the ideas and feelings of many that are brought forth by way of a bold and unashamed writer, W.A. Gordon. The poems of this book explore several facets, centering tightly around the lives that many people live, but choose to reserve their opinion or beliefs on. The book is divided into two sections (Love and Life) and also includes a bonus section (Dedication). Each poem that has been included in this collection is nothing short of a open window into the life, or at least viewpoint, of the plainspoken author. The range of topics allow all readers to embrace an idea to identify with, a different outlook to consider, or even simply a feeling of knowing that their idea is not as flawed or imperfect as the title humorously suggests. Even though similarly fashioned works are grouped together for continuity, each poem has its own story to tell. The creativity of the flow of words carefully selected to construct each selection, keeps the reading of Flawed Thoughts & Imperfect Perspectives entertaining and sure to draw out laughs, tears, and other feelings that all can appreciate. Sit back and read this book that was so candidly constructed, but carefully considered for all to enjoy, be inspired, and encourage those who need or seek it.
