Îi tremura vocea și se bâlbâia la telefon. Nu știa ce să facă. Îmi spuse că toţi prietenii lui care aveau mașini au plecat deja spre vamă. Avea și el mașină, dar se temea că cei care fugeau cu mașinile vor fi lichidați primii. De asta, nici nu știa ce să facă. Dar nici să rămână nu voia. Amicul meu intrase în panică. Or rușii tocmai asta și urmăreau. Să bage frica în noi pentru a ne învinge mai uşor. Plecăm? Te iau cu mine! mi-a zis. Nu, eu o să rămân. Și nu ți-e frică? Ba da, îmi este. Opțiunea mea i se părea o nebunie. Cum să rămâi, când ai putea să fii ucis în orice clipă? Până spre seară, ajunsese la Budapesta, iar a doua zi era deja la Roma. Eu însă am rămas. Cât a călătorit pe drum, eu mi-am scris primele proze din carte. Scriindu-le, mi-am învins frica. De care el nu a putut să scape nici peste mări și țări. De asta îmi este atât de scumpă această carte: pentru că m-a ajutat să-mi înving frica.“

Intr-o lume in care realitatea si existenta sunt atat de acaparatoare si vorace incat nu mai avem timp de nimic altceva, daramite de introspectie, iau contact cu scrierea lui Mihai Dinu, cea de fata! In tonuri usoare, degajate si, oarecum, reflexe, autorul ma imerseaza in realitatile atat de familiare noua, tuturor. Prima reactie de ,,Nu mai vreau jurnal de stiri!” este curand inabusita de cursul, curgerea naturala a naratiunii, atat de bine udata si presarata cu ironii, fatise sau voalate, asumate sau nevinovate. In stilul James Joyce ,,stream of consciousness” sau monolog interior, autorul sare de la o tema la alta si de la o identitate la alta, cu naturalete si jovialitate. Dincolo de abordarea aparent facila si usor digerabila, ironia ocupa un jilt demn de Caragiale si in care aspectele de ordin social, politic, istoric, economic, juridic, se impletesc cu aspectele conspirationale, obscure, oculte, subliminale, de birt sau de mahala. Mai mult decat tratarea unor tipologii umane, autorul zugraveste tipologii existentiale si care sunt, in acelasi timp, contemporane noua, astfel incat sa ne putem da cu parerea sau sa putem adera. Jocuri de limbaj actuale si perfect avenite contextului vin sa mascheze amarul satirei in cupa de ambrozie. Acuze voalate si invesmantate in barfe de birt si terase infiereaza coruptia, politichia, nationalismul de fatada, constiinta si constienta natiei si cetateanului, lentoarea institutiilor statului, vortexul birocratiei, incompetenta si analfabetismul amploiatilor unui sistem pretins functional. Dincolo de tonul asa-zis nevinovat si nestiutor rolul papusii cu sfori, se prefigureaza razbelul si revolta unui om al sistemului, in contra sistemului, dar dus de curentul sistemului in virtutea supravietuirii, postura in care si pe care cei mai multi dintre noi ne si o recunoastem. Defectele si disfunctionalitatile de la nivelul tuturor institutiilor esentiale ale statului se impletesc cu ironia asupra vulgului, asupra fasolei cu ciolan, asupra galetii si uleiului electorale, asupra politicii de birt, asupra institutiilor guvernamentale dar si asupra celor ,,mono-nucleare” ale casatoriei si ,,gospodariei”.
