Anschließend wird die Organisation von Unterrichtsbeobachtungen mit ihrer charakteristischen Phasierung und den ihr eigenen Merkmalen erläutert. Im Anschluss daran werden diverse Arten der Unterrichtsbeobachtung vorgestellt, wie etwa das Microteaching, das Teamteaching, die verschiedenen Hospitationstypen und, vor allem, die moderne Methode der Audio- beziehungsweise Videographie. Danach folgt ein Einblick in die verschiedenen Funktionen und Ziele, die mit Unterrichtsbeobachtungen einhergehen. Zuletzt wird ein Ausblick auf weitere Forschungsansätze geboten, der die Optimierung der Unterrichtsbeobachtung noch einmal thematisiert.

In den letzten Jahren hat im traditionellen Klassenzimmer ein Wandel hin zur Nutzung moderner Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien begonnen. Während die Entwicklung in den letzten Jahrzehnten jedoch nur langsam vorangeschritten ist, wird der Trend nun durch die großflächige Einführung interaktiver Tafeln (IAT), auch als Interactive Whiteboards (IWB) bekannt, massiv verstärkt. Die Einführung von IAT und die oft damit verbundene Ersetzung der klassischen Tafel stellt einen tiefgreifenden Eingriff in das tägliche Unterrichtsgeschehen dar, der eine Vision über mögliche Veränderungen und Verbesserungen erfordert. Zahlreiche englischsprachige Studien haben gezeigt, dass interaktive Tafeln viele Vorzüge für den Unterricht haben können. Dabei scheint die Lehrerfortbildung eines der zentralen Elemente zu sein, diese Vorteile auch praktisch in den Unterricht zu überführen. Ausgehend von der Analyse der Forschungsliteratur wurden in der Dissertation die technischen und didaktischen Potentiale der IAT erarbeitet und die möglichen Einflüsse auf den Unterricht dargelegt. Anhand theoretischer Modelle wurden inhaltliche und methodische Anforderungen an eine zu entwickelnde Fortbildung umrissen und durch die praktischen Erfahrungen aus den bisherigen Studien ergänzt. Basierend auf diesen Vorarbeiten und den Rahmenbedingungen in Sachsen wurden folgende Forschungsfragen und -ziele aufgestellt und untersucht: 1. Wie werden IAT im sächsischen Physikunterricht eingesetzt und wie wird dieser Physikunterricht von Lehrern und Schülern wahrgenommen? 2. Entwicklung und Evaluation einer physik-spezifischen Lehrerfortbildung und die Analyse, welchen Einfluss eine solche Veranstaltung haben kann.
