Michael Jüttemeier gibt – basierend auf einer rund dreijährigen, prozessbegleitenden Analyse – erstmals Antworten auf die Frage, inwiefern die Fusion des Karlsruher Instituts für Technologie (KIT) die spezifischen Organisationsstrukturen, Zentralverwaltungen und Wissenschaftskulturen der KIT-Vorgängerorganisationen erfasste und veränderte. Der Autor zeigt, dass die Fusion nicht zu einer Auflösung der KIT-Vorgängerorganisationen führte, sondern zu asymmetrischen Restrukturierungsprozessen in der Zentralverwaltung, deren Wirkungen die Beziehungen sowohl innerhalb dieser als auch zwischen der Zentralverwaltung und den WissenschaftlerInnen veränderten.

Wie aus den Beiträgen in diesem Band hervorgeht, entstanden im Rahmen einer Online-Tagung des Arbeitskreises Hochschulen in der Gesellschaft für Evaluation (DeGEval), gibt es viele Aspekte der heutigen Hochschulbildung und -praxis, die in Frage gestellt und neu bewertet oder modifiziert werden müssen. Die Corona-Krise hat zu einer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit didaktischen Vorgehensweisen und Lernzielen geführt. Die 'erzwungene' Digitalisierung in der Zeit der Corona-Pandemie hat hier sicher viele wünschenswerte, aber auch problematische Entwicklungen angestoßen. Wir müssen neu darüber nachdenken, warum wir uns eigentlich in Person sehen müssen, wann, wo und wie häufig. Persönliche Begegnungen bleiben zweifellos wichtig, aber auch Umweltbelangen sind zu berücksichtigen. Nachhaltigkeit ist ein Thema, das nicht nur in der Forschung, sondern auch in anderen Bereichen wie Lehre, Verwaltung und Campusmanagement zunehmend auf die Tagesordnung der Hochschulen rückt. Der erste Teil des Bandes enthält Themen, die für die Hochschulbildung von allgemeiner Bedeutung sind. Im zweiten Teil stellen wir Themen vor, die sich mit der Analyse und Entwicklung der Hochschulbildung befassen, so dass Evaluierungsprozesse im Vordergrund dieses Teils stehen.

Editors’ Foreword The fundamental changes currently taking place in the national and international science landscapes can no longer be overlooked. Within those changes, reforms do not go ‘as planned’ but, as is always the case with processes of rationali- tion, have a series of unintended effects. At the same time it becomes incre- ingly clear who in this process are the winners and who are the losers, although this is still subject to fluctuation and change. This can be illustrated by two - amples from current events: Where the range of taught courses is concerned, as part of the Bologna Process the new structuring of student study paths and their organisation is aimed at unifying the European area of science to ensure a study that is equally permissive and efficient. However, it is to be deplored that the mobility of s- dents has become more restricted because of an increasing specialisation in the available study paths. Also, bachelor degrees do not meet with the anticipated high response from the labour market in all countries, so that the master’s degree is becoming more or less a ‘must’, while at the same time the number of study places on master’s courses is limited. Instead of the intended reduction in the duration of study time in comparison to the previous German ‘Magister’ and ‘Diplom’, rather a prolongation in the duration of studies has been recorded.

Gotthold Ephraim Lessing und sein Werk gehören seit der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts zum Kanon der deutschsprachigen Literatur. Eine herausragende Rolle bei der Inthronisierung des Autors im literarischen Kanon und damit im kulturellen Gedächtnis haben die höheren Lehranstalten gespielt. Auch aufgrund der problematischen Quellenlage wurde der Rezeption und Vermittlung von Literatur im schulischen Kontext bislang aber nur geringe Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Auf der Grundlage von bislang nur schwer zugänglichen schulspezifischen Textsorten wie Schulprogrammen befasst der Band sich nun erstmals in vergleichender Perspektive mit unterschiedlichen Aspekten der Behandlung von G. E. Lessing im Deutschunterricht der Höheren Lehranstalten. Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and his work have been contributing to the canon of German-language literature since the latter half of the 19th Century. Higher education institutions have played a prominent role in the enthronement of the author within the literary canon and thus also within cultural memory. That said, due to the problematic accessibility and quality of the sources available, little attention has been paid to the reception and mediation of literature within the educational field up to now. On the basis of different types of school-specific documents such as school curricula - which have, up to now, been proven difficult to access -, this volume is the first ever to deal, from comparative perspectives, with different aspects concerning the way in which G. E. Lessing is presented in German lessons at higher education institutions.
