Information technology is used by businesses to help with process improvement in an effort to drive business initiatives. To support these business initiatives, information technology is challenged with the task of making user interaction seamless for frontline users. Despite information technology efforts, a huge gap still exists between business initiatives for process improvement efforts through data technologies and frontline users. This gap analysis will reflect the needed improvements to closing and or eliminating the disparity between the two. Reasons for the gap between business initiatives and frontline users include user hesitance, vendor limitations, limitations of existing software merging together, and hosting updates for security purposes hindering the process of learning and using new or updated software. Understanding information technology’s approach towards internal departments, coupled with a full understanding of users’ business needs, will provide insight for implementation steps with minimal user hesitance. Proper implementation is imperative for future growth endeavors.
