Descriptions of fisching equipments and techniques, on board processing methods, results of catches analysis and management proposals for the deep sea crabs of the genus Chaceon are presented. Data provided by the fishing boat "Kinpo Maru no 58" from the southern and southeastern Brazilian area indicate a potencial stock of 23 614 tons and a maximum yield of 2 700 metric tons/year. The activity of no more than two fishing boats with similar capacity of "Kinpo Maru 58" is suggested.

This book presents the biodiversity of the Brazilian deep-sea and its many unique geological and biological features, as well as a review of its ecology, conservation, and future research needs.
